Now heres the goodies i got off the donor truck.

The roof I cut off at the posts cuz the roof skin didn't come out as nice as i wanted it to so im gona weld the new one on at the posts instead.

I got the 3/4 ton axles that were put on the blazer before I bought it. I was the lucky one to score them with the truck. HOLLA

The small block was not from the donor truck but its built with fulie heads and double wound valve springs and pushrod guides its got a racing oil pan i scored that for $500 bucks. i got a weiand stealth aluminum intake manifold and a holly 650 double pumper for $50 bucks and a 10 bolt rear from an astro van. SCORE

I got some more stuff painted I will get more pics up soon just the battery tray and the header panel. I got a power tailgate with the donor truck witch i am gona start prepping soon and get that ready to paint.

The big block was for a 72 chevelle that my boy was soposed to get that never happened so we had to sell it we made 50 bucks on it though. The small block however is a nice 350 with fuelie heads double wound valve springs and a racing oil pan. we found both motors from a guy who passed away and used to build race cars. so im thinking the 350 is built nice looking at the heads on it witch are worth 500 bucks alone witch is what I paid for the whole motor. its getting a weiand stealth intake manifold on it and a 650 holly double pumper holly fuel pump and the accell HEI super coil. O and the best part is thats going in the truck. I cant wait to here that baby roar.

Now todaY I gutted the power tailgate I scored that was laying in the back of that lovely donor truck. Its rock solid so im gona take the best guts out of the 2 gates cuz the truck came with 2 gates the 1 on the truck and the 1 laying in the back. and thats one more thing to knock off the list. I want to get it painted and going back together by the end of next week. Ill get some pics up soon of the progress.

Just some more pics of some painted parts and the tailgate I gutted. The window motor works good but the window tracks are shot.

I need an opinion here on the tailgate should I use the older style aluminum panel or the newer style panel ???

I did a **** load of cleaning friday so I can move around the truck and get some real work done. I know I say this all the time but I gotta hit the truck hard and get the dam floors in already. I started modifying the cab supports to fit the plate I made to go under the floor cuz the stock one was rotted gone. Once thats done I can weld in the floor pans in and its all up hill from there.

I still need to do door skins
strip, prime, and paint the new hood
strip, prime, and paint the rad support
scuff and prime the passengers side quarter panel
Weld in the new tailpan
Change the roof again cuz im not happy with the first attempt
Drop in the 350 and put the top end on it WEIAND STEALTH MANIFOLD AND HOLLY 650 DOUBLE PUMPER

I also need to start doing all the dirty work with the interior and get that started to put together
modify the passenger front seat its from a suburn with armrests I need to mount the forward flip hinge on the passenger seat cuz the suburban seat did not flip forward
also made custom inlays for the door panels need to figure out how to mount them
I also wana attempt to put speakers in the door panels cuz I do not want to cut holes in the bottom of the doors like most people do
o yea the radio needs to find its way in the dash I have the correct basket to put it in so it does not overlap the dash and look look moose cock.
I also need to make interior panels for the bed witch I can mount some speakers in I have my eye on a set of 6''x9'' infinity speakers in my boys garage lets see how lucky I get with that
I already have 2 12'' subs waiting to be put in but lets not get to ahead of myself here.
The truck is still in pieces lets not forget.

I got my work cut out for me Cant wait to get restarted

You'd better hurry if you're working outside....... the snow will be flying before you know it and then we're all going to be hiding indoors for the next few months! :yikes:

:usaflag:

well is working in a tent considered working outside I mean at least im covered from the falling crap and propane heaters work wonders.

Im also thinking of getting the frame sandblasted i got a price from a local guy 300 bucks do you think its worth it??

If he does a decent job it's well worth it. You'll go through that much in blasting media with low powered home-style setup.

Get it into Zinc Chromate as quickly as you can once it's blasted (Ryoken Green) to protect that bare metal.

cranked on the heater for the first time

Well the heat went on tonight it was below 50 out but there is alot of work to get done so I cant let alittle cold stop me tomorrow im gonna start and hopefully finish modifying the cab supports so I can get them in and move on to the floor pans once and for all. THEY WILL GO IN AND STAY IN THIS TIME

Just finished modifying the junk cab support I got from lmc. The fitment was off a mile. Nothing a grinder cutting snips and a hammer cant fix.

That was my experience as well......reproduction parts are often lousy, but still a lot faster than building new ones from flat sheetmetal.

The old stuff may be rotten and lousy-looking but it can still be good reference material for modifying the new ones to make them fit well.

Definitely the aftermarket parts are crap. I have been using your thread as a good how to I got the driver floor so close today I can taste it. I also had to take out the new shiny sill plates to make sure the gap between the rocker and floor pan was not to big witch it is good. The floor should be welded in by the end of next week then I can move on to the passengers side. WOOT:woot: pics coming soon.

floor pan is finally in

the floor pan is finialy in after a long day of grinding :grind: welding:weld: drilling and more grinding and then more welding. I put the cab support in and welded on the nice beefy support plate then fitted in the floor pan and marked from the underneath wear to drill the holes then drilled them all out screwer it down with tome sheet metal screws and plugged the holes one hole at a time making sure no daylight was able to come through the supports
