77 The Black Truck "Ratbag"

Maybe we should chuck a 150 shot on that BBC while you're not looking Russ...

"...and the next event will be the Clive cornfield drags. For first time spectators...there are no rules."

You be careful, I'll bring 4502 down and show ya'll what a real race truck does :pimp:

I might just have to make a few weekend trips down there to help you with it Dean...

Gosta be done for the partay. :pimp:

Its a simple as putting a 454 flywheel on, and bolting everything up, really if you listen to peeps that's all there is to it, no added costs, no hidden parts to discover, no upgrades to worry about, its a true bolt in!

Got the BB moved into my garage today.

Do all the 781 heads have PASS X marked on them? These ones both do.

Do SB starters work on a BB? I thought BB starter have 3 bolts to hold them on...my uncle said the a SB starter will fit??? I see 3 bolt holes for the starter and was sure my old 78 took a different starter than a SB.

I know Dave...I need headers,a rad,starter,acc brackets and a water pump.

Phoned my uncle last night...he`s got nothing right now.

the only dif in chevy starters is 153 vs 168 flywheel teeth... other than mini vs fullsize, etc... they are all 2 bolt....

as Paul stated on the starters!

The heads, don't matter what the other letters numbers are, just the casting no.

Most say HI-PERF too, but it really don't matter, if they are 781's that's as good as it gets for an Oval port!

The accessory drive....if you should come across a mid 90's SBC setup (aluminum serp mounting brackets) you can get a set of plates from Kwik-perf to adapt them to the BBC.
If/when I take mine off again, I will have a set made for the CC as well.

BTW Dean, don't use that intake. It's a real POS. I got it for next to free before I knew anything about it. It was too cheap to pass on at the time. Really, all it's good for is to hold the carb and keep the dust out of the engine.

I think both the flex plate and the balancer are new...

Oh yeah, there should be an oil cooler in the pile that goes with the 454. Bolts up where the filter is.

I think you need a sheetmetal intake Dean...

Arnold cyl. heads....he's the guy that does my head work.

I would use a performer rpm. One of mine has a super victor and the other has a performer and is getting a tunnel ram.

How bad can it be!??? I had a 396/ 375 HP stock intake on my old 454 and I thought it was great!?? Can that one be that bad!??

The starter info was good guys! One thing off the check list!

Why would they make a different flywheel count.:dunno:
Other than counting teeth what is the difference?

the 168's have the 2 mounting bolt holes staggered, the 153's bolt holes are inline with each other... that's really the only dif, as the 153 and 168 tooth wheels actually have the same teeth and spacing... it's just the 168 is a bigger diameter.. 153's came out later and spin faster being smaller, 168's are the original chevy config and will spin with more torque, thus being good for high comp motors, BB, yada...
