77 The Black Truck "Ratbag"

Haha! Cows blood never even thought of that! :doah:

The oil is soaking in nicely Dave should be good to go!

It's supposedly a middle ages thing.
I consider myself an amateur woodworker and I frequent a woodworking forum.
The story goes that a door (in Denmark) was built and hung in the mid 1600s and coated(painted) with cows blood and linseed oil.
It's iron in our blood that makes blood red.
It's this iron in the blood soaking into the wood is one reason it's supposed to last.

I just figured you had an ample supply of cows blood at your disposal.

Edit: I forgot to say the door had never been repainted. 400years later supposedly the door is still in good shape.

Interesting for sure! Actually just yesterday we had our vet do a otopsy on one cow and a BSE test on anouther. Yes at times we have plenty of cows blood.

I had to edit my post. Forgot a part.
I might feel slightly bad for the derail but since truck doesn't do burnouts anymore....

I actually would mind trying a blood paint. Even if it's a little creepy. I think the old world stuff is neat..

The iron thing is originally why barns where red. Iron in the paint made the paint red. So it makes sense to me.

More derale, I used to watch that show on public tv with the guy that built all kinds of wood stuff with the old school hand tools only. Pretty neat to see the craftsmanship behind it.
