77 The Black Truck "Ratbag"

don't underestimate the value of a traction bar too Dean, unless you have a bunch of springs available....or just keep it in the loose stuff!

Hey how is that rear axle doing? still making noises?

Before or after plating it???

Martin

Probably before.

I f I do 64s out back I'll make a traction bar for sure.
actually the rear end is good so far... a bit howly but it's fine Lol!

Rene Deb and Veneca were over Friday to pic up a steering wheel for his Blazer and dropped off his old fuel tank.

I m collecting parts so I can put 64s in the back one day.

Thanks for coming out always a good time! :thumb:

Paul and Kim were out Saturday and we decided to weigh the Ratbag Paul hasn`t had a ride in it since the 454 swap so we had to do a test thrash on the gravel and a nice big burnout on the pavement. :D

Took it down to the Hutterites truck scale.

4916 lbs

Another good time Thanks guys! :thumb:

I don't think I've ever seen Vanessa's name so thoroughly butchered...:haha:

Started to fix the really ugly trans tunnel that I chucked in there after the engine/trans swap.
The one that came with the 81 donor truck was hacked and didn't fit my 77 cab at all.
What is that extra hole to the left of the T/C...I think the 81 came factory with one of those crappy 5 speeds they used for a couple of years? Then swapped in a 465.

The 77 tunnel is a bit narrower that the 81 so I needed to add some metal.

Used Duraglas for seem sealer, just waiting for it to harden up.

There was an NP833, but it was a four speed. There were no 5 speeds.

The shifter was next to the transfer case shifter in those though, so that is probably what it was.

Never heard of a np833? That 81 was originally a 6.2 diesel.

I had a buddy that owned a 87 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy that was factory 5 speed standard...he might even still have the truck...I haven't seen him in 15 years.:dunno: He was pretty anal about it and it was a super nice truck!

lookin good Dean!
that turned out nice. You got any covering to throw on the floor?

Had this laying around on the top of my tool box and got sick of moving it...factory high idle.

So I bolted it in. Much better then the ten speed gear shifter contraption I had when it was a automatic. :haha:
