Hey maybe you could throw them on the truck and put the skinny pedal to the floor before the last coat dries and they will self balance.:waytogo: Just ask me I have lots of good ideas.

Edit: and they look great, I can't wait to see them on the truck.

that sounds out there Tony...what have you been up to tonight????

Got the black on, and decided to see what they looked like...despite a little dirt in them, and missing a bit on the inside of the rim, I'm liking em.

I still have the cardboard in the back half (the white poster board to cover the orange)

They look good Dave, nice job. Now bolt them on and go to the dunes this weekend!

Looks great, Dave... :waytogo:

Edit: Looks like you're the winner of my 1000th post. They must look really awesome for you to win that... :haha:

I like em alot...but I won't be making the dunes til July...just got to much to get done yet, and not enough time to do it. Still have to get the Vette some attention before Powertour also.
Would like to get a quick paint job on it, but not sure I'll get to that either.

will be working on the other 2 wheels in the next couple days, then cutting down the runflat inserts and trying to get them all together.
Then the tube doors, skid plates, hydro assist, some electrical stuff, and a few issues that need to be taken care of before running it again.

Dave lemme save you some trouble here. Pick up the phone and order pvc runflats from anyone.

There I just saved you a day of fustration.

I am all for doing everything yourself but I would not waste my time cutting down the stock inserts. Just order new ones. It is a huge pain in the butt.

Besides then you have these big inserts to throw in the fire and see how long it takes em to catch and realize all the stories you may have heard about how magnesium burns are true. For a nice pure magnesium, not for those inserts.

Now pick up the phone and order some inserts

Interesting, I had just the opposite experience from Eric. Cutting my mag inserts was super easy (2 hrs to cut and flap disc 5 assemblies) but it was a huge pita when I helped TARussell with his PVC inserts.

For the mag inserts; a sawzall, a wood cutting blade and a 5 gal bucket are your friend. :thumb:

So remind me why we cut them?
Are we using thicker beaded tires than what came on the Hummers?

getting rid of the runflat part of the insert, only using the beadlock portion of it.
With the runflat in there, airing down might cause the tires to bottom out on the insert.

So is the big issue with the mag inserts cutting them then?
Are the PVC's needing to be cut also? Havne't seen those ones yet.

If that is the case I would keep them, nothing wrong with having that protection and I think anyone that gets the pressure that low anyway is wasting more than half the height of the tire and it doesn't get you more traction that way, sorry.

but at that point youre losing the benefit of airing down and to follow that, if you arent getting the benefit of airing down, why bother with a beadlock?
you have to cut it down to be able to get the tire to give a wider contact patch and get a little softer so it grips better.

I know that, I wasn't born yesterday, the run flat is not the same size of the tire, it will have to go down quite a bit before it touches, especially for those who run 40-44" tires.
I air down to get the wider patch, but I don't get in the single digits like some do because you lose clearance and you do not gain more traction by doing so.
I have tried a big range of pressures, and on different terrains, and anything under 12 PSI was a waste of time and tire.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you here.
