Your right Rick, its not like they're cherry originals....I'm not to concerned with how they look, just get some paint on em.

Uh oh, daves gonna need some more tubing :pimp:
Eventually, but right now that's a long ways off, I just gotta hammer on this thing to get it driveable right now.

Otherly noteworthy accomplishments....It was funnernhell driving the Vette into work today, and getting some looks as the open headers tend to draw some attention.

Hey Adam, I'm headed up to S/L for the weekend b4 the 4th, you want to get rid of that top still? I can probably fit it on my trailer with the Jeepster on it too.

Yes sir. Will you be needing the windows? If not ill take them out and keep the non cracked ones as spares just in case. I figured you would put yours on it anyways.

yeah take em out if you want, less weight for me to struggle with.

The more you do ... the more I like it... It`s kind of like what my dream wheeler would be.

I think you are doing a great job of making it an all around solid 4x4 for any type of day!!

Good for you!!:bow::bow:

Keep up the sweet work... it will be worthwhile in the end.

Thanks Max, and I am still working on it, just not a lot of showy stuff right now.
Cage paint prep, rear floor quicky paint job, steering column change/rebuild...combining 2 into 1 good one I hope. JK steering shaft addition, rear inner boxside panels, seat mntg, seat belt mtg, center console for a shifter mtg. ya know lots of little things that suck up your time. Really feeling the deadline coming too, would like to have it fully functional by mid august, to work out any issues before BB11.

Sounds good :thumb:
I'll be heading up to S/L on Thur the 30th in the evening, and home on Wed the 6th, what time are you working?

While were meetin up is their anything worthwhile you have sitting around you wanna get rid of? I dont have much in particular just a thought lol

I'll try to hit you up on Thur then....I'll be plowing through in early evening probably.
And what could you use? I need to compile a list after BB11, to see what I can get rid of, and not keep for spares.....still have a D44 and a 12 bolt w/ 3.08's, a spare set of disc pads, and a 2WD steering box from a 78. gimme some ideas of what your looking for? Driveshafts? I got a spare 14BFF cover you could put on over your 10bolt to have a faux 14BFF????

Dave how much you want for that steering box? Saves me the trouble of going and pulling one from a yard for my dads k5. Since I'm pulling the 3/4ton stuff and putting in the 1 ton stuff he will most likely buy it from me.

Jess, its the older flare type, and next time we get together its yours....you worked your butt off while here for build and greet, its the least I can do.

Haha how would a 14bolt cover fit on a ten bolt???
Idk I just remember your massive pile of stuff in the garage and I didnt really look at it much. I think I wanna do the interior next, its pretty shotty, I have all new carpet and lower door panels in the tan color, and i was kinda toying with the idea of putting in the manual tranny but Idk how much of a pain that is to put the 465 in one of these as far as transfer case and driveshafts and what not. Idk how much I wanna mess with rebuilding 700r4s when I could put a stick in that would get me better mileage and be alot stronger...... Idk its just a thought.

I don't know if you'd get better mileage with a 465, but you could build a stout 700 for what that swap would cost I bet.

Not too sure you would like the 465 up at silver lake. not very friendly on the bigger hills where you have to down shift quickly.

I agree with these guys, the 465 is a good trans, but you can't shift it very quickly at all. Also, going from an OD auto trans with a locking converter to a 1:1 manual trans is not going to get you better mileage, probably worse. Wait, how come I just replied about your rig in two different threads? :dunno: :D

You can do an SM465 swap much cheaper than a TH700R4 rebuild, but like was siad, they don't shift real fast. They are MUCH more durable than any automatic transmission though. The easiest/cheapest way to do it, is to just find a parts truck (1981-1987[1991] pickup, Blazer, or Suburban) with an SM465/NP208. They are a direct swap for a TH700R4. You can reuse your drive shafts and your transfer case shifter. The holes for the shifter and the clutch linkage are marked, you just have to cut them out.
