That suck!

I like how you are not giving up.

Third time is a charm.

Good luck. If I was closer I would try to help.

You will get it.

Reminds me of when we would work up to the last minute to get my buddy's pull truck. ready to race.

Dave,

We're gettting some transmissions out tomorrow and gona go ahead and start rebuilding one just in case. Might as well get after it just in case. Nothing wrong with a spare transmission.

Could it be the converter maybe :dunno:

Keith, I don't believe so...I think that would effect more than just a 2-3 shift and reverse...I still think its something in the forward clutch setup, but hopefully we'll find out for sure tomorrow. I had this convertor (TCI 1400 stall) in my Vette without issue, and put it in here because I stepped up the stall speed on the Vette....I'm taking it just in case though.

When are you dragging the whole truck there to save time on the back and forth?

When???? I have the trans out (Coan don't do service work on vehicles...only trans work) He said if I show up at 8am, they will get a technician on it, and figure it out.

That suck!

Thanks Teck....like I said, I want this badly....I ain't giving up.

Your too cool Kert....as you said, don't hurt to have a spare. I'll call ya tomorrow when I get it going again.

Tonight, we tried to get the Brakes bled, again with a problem...seems the 82 diesel p/u I took the hydro boost/pedal assy/and m/c doesnt' have a long enough pushrod to activate the 78K30 m/c I bought....the pushrod is 1.22 inches from even making contact with the m/c piston....so a buddy is making a pushrod extension on his lathe tomorrow. Hopefully that will get the brakes working good.
Did get a spacer made for a waterpump pulley though, the pulley was just a bit out of alignment, and the belt tried to ride on the outer guide edge of the pulley instead of flat in between the guide edges....small item, but could have had big consequences....

night all, 4am will come early enough.

Fu#K Man!! I wish you the best of luck!!!

You have worked so hard on this thing... you deserve some satisfaction.:bow:

GO DAVE GO!!

That sucks Dave, you better grab a snickers for when you get there. Bummer.

Did he say if they found the problem with the trans or not?

good deal, hope its a resolution. :waytogo:to everyone helping him too

Thanks a bunch for the thoughts and support guys....CK5 absolutely rocks!

Thanks a ton to Jess for coming over tonight too, way cool brother, I'll try to treat you right, at least we get A/C....its 94 and humid here today...:eek1:

here's what they found, (to the best I can remember, I'm going on 3 hours of sleep last night)...clearances in the front and rear were too tight (my fault, and the other guy for not finding that)

The direct clutch piston was replaced...it was forced into the drum too far creating a groove in the piston and not allowing it to apply as it should, (the other guys fault, and mine for not checking a unit he said was ready to go, but it pressure checked good, I could hear the piston apply????)

The fwd/driect clutch pack needed to be replaced because of the damage....

A new shim in the pump
A new center support snap ring
A heli-coil ???

1 hour dyno test...
Torque convertor pressure and visual test....evidently they really need to be taken apart to check the vanes to see what condition its in, he said go with it.

So it passed on the dyno....I got a much better feeling about it now.

While the tech was working on it, Walker (the guy that got me in on a Friday of a holiday weekend) took me on a tour....this place is way more than I thought it was...they manufacture a lot of their own high end pieces...mostly for highpower powerglides...like suppying 90 monster trucks, terrible Herbst racing, Lucas oil off road team, and too many drag racers to list. It was a very cool tour....They make some real pieces of art that go into the high dollar racing transmissions....a ton of billet stuff.

A few pics of areas they would let me take:

And I had the pleasure of dealing with these two beauties when I had to pay my bill:

The end result, I'm headed out to the shop with right now:

Total..260$
Can't say enough about how well I was treated by the whole place today....

Are you kidding me!!
What a deal on the trans!

I was thinking ,how much cash you are spending to get this thing going...I would have quit a long time ago.

Good for you to keep it going, that is determination. You are obviously a guy that gets what he wants.

Just don`t be doing it for the rest of us.

I would be sick for ever if I found you that you got into hard times or an accident cause of no sleep because of this, it`s not worth it!

Still cheering!! GO DAVE GO!!! JUST BE CAREFUL!

And have fun!

BTW Jess you are awesome!!
