Nice work, what Welder are you working with just curious? Also dave let me know if you want me to come out next weekend.

Jess, I'm working with a Lincoln Pro-Mig 175, right now I'm running .030 w/gas.

I'll be working on this Saturday, I'm sure we can find something on the "list" to do if you want to come this way. Don't know if you seen it, but I had to use that Bowtie emblem on my new Chinawanese grille for the truck, but I got your rim handy if you come this way.

Today I got the DIY4X rear axle truss installed. I had to tweak it a bit to fit my axle. Kert says that although he builds these on a 14BFF housing, sometimes the housings are a bit different in dimensions due to production needs/tolerances.
Anyhow I had to tweak it a bit to get a real good fit without being under stress. I'm liking it...good and stout.

This shows how good it fit after the tweaks and before welding to the axle:

I suppose I should chime in and say that it looks awesome everyonce in awhile instead of saying it in my head

Looks great and keeps getting better :pimp:

thanks Guys!

Once I figure where to put the shock mounts and get them welded on, I can redo the paint job....that roll bar paint comes off way to easy. Cheap sh!t.

whats up with the heat marks on the tube, that doesn't have a bracket

was that one of your "tweaks"

Exactly...I had to move it about 1/8-3/16" to get it to seat good on the housing without being stressed.

Got my new belt sander today....returned the POS Rockwell unit.
This Porter Cable has a little better setup for tables and an 8" disc.

Got the spring perches cut off today....that's about as much fun as removing rivets:

Took all but 2 leaves out of the spring packs to better check ride height and articulation.

With the frame level, the t/c output is @ 5* , and repositioning the spring perches here (just sitting on the axle) the pinion is up about 5*.

Dave take the straps out of the yoke and then measure directly off the yoke. That is the only flat surface on it

That looks pretty good as far as ride height goes.

Very nice man very nice/

So I should measure at the seats of the ujoint then?
I will double check the t/c that way too.
The rear is nice an bouncy now. I think I'll tack the perches at the same angle as the t/c output for now.
I can check my shock mounting and articulation in the back then.

How do you know that will be the finished ride hight? I get that you took the springs out for testing but how many are you planing on putting back in?
Or is it a wait and see thing. Will it be a full body or a little cut up"lighter" than stock.
Actually just trying to picture what the rig will look like done.

Dave can't come over this weekend anymore. I may have to play with my new toy I ordered, that is if it get here by friday.... pro tools HD105 :woot::woot::woot:

Shooting for a level frame rail in the end. Right now the perches will just be tacked for further mockup on other items.
We will set the final pinion angle when I get the body back on.:waytogo:
