Eric, we got plenty done, sometimes that take a step back kinda thing jumps into the fray. Hey come on what do you expect coming 1500 miles away, and me having not a good steel supplier, and familiar bender, desired equipment and supplies at hand. We done good.
My forkin' tooth has been killin' me. Got a root canal done today, ohye:doah: coulda had a new set of shocks for the rear, and some cash left over from that one.

your right Heath....My mind has been pretty fuzzy the last few days.
So you got a tilt column your looking to sell?

Dave I might have one. I'll check this weekend.

The one in my dually is a special edition I think. It tilts about 6" up and to the left with out even hitting a lever:haha:. Its funny watching people try to drive it. They make this face:eek1: when it moves the first time.

No the only extra column I have is the one you already have (1" - 36 spline). The one I have that would work is the one that is still in my truck (double flat shaft). So nothing to sell, I am just trying to let you know that's another option besides getting a new XJ shaft, get a different tilt column, it's not like the one you have is that great anyway! hee hee :thumb:

If you were closer, I would just give you one.

Martin

Thanks for the offer Martin. :waytogo:

:haha: That's funny Rick. so the tilt lever is broke or what?

You can have mine if I can have your truck........

I'll have to think about that Adam...:thumb:

Got ya Heath, my tilt is a POS like it is, I was hoping it would at least be able to be put in for more mockup....I'll see what Jess and I can work out.

Some Chitown style pizza :D
Serious? They don't open til 4...but maybe I could make an evening run your way.
What shape is it in? Like Heath said, mine is a POS right now, and I would have to go through it, then find a 36 spline round XJ shaft to fit it, in order to use what I have.

The Column was punched, but if you have a plastic cover, you could transfer the stuff over. I'll get pics for you tomorrow.

No the tilt lever in mine works fine. Just what ever position its in it will go up and to the left for some reason. It sets level in what ever spot you put it though so it dont bother me any:D Cant drive with your knee though. Thats how I figured out it did it. Bout killed myself, and I made the:eek1: face.:haha:

I can get one for about $50 out of a local yard, I would think one could be shipped for that, maybe minus the wheel?
I'll see what Jess has going with his, and go from there. I'll definietly keep yours in mind though.
Thanks Martin.

Was talking with Kert the last couple days, and decided to install a bar from the engine cage out to the front tube bumper. That will sandwich the radiator support in between the engine cage and the link to the front bumper, to tie it all in together.

Ironmaiden283.jpg

It will tie into the engine cage at the upper horizontal bar, and have a bolt on plate at the core supt. then from the core supt to the front bumper at a point of an intersecting joint of the bumper tubes.

That sounds like a good plan, but how is it going to clear your radiator and fans?

The bars will be on the outside of the radiator/fans where the solid part of the supt is.

So while we were putting this cage together, I didn't realize that its too wide to get the top on. Its too short, its too wide, I hate this cage stuff right now.
So being that a lot of welding has been done to the rear bars, I reluctant to take them out, spend more money on more tube, try to bend it myself....I think I may just put together what I got, and run without the top this summer...

Did get the seats positioned today though...

It looks like it would still go on but will have to be lowered on from above:dunno: I guess that could be hard to do though, even for a trial.

The rear horizontal bar is 3" too wide to get the top on, I measured it at 17" high which is the height of that horizontal bar, and it is 61.5" wide at that point.
The top is only 58" wide 17" from the mounting flange. ????

gotta be an answer to this...

knowing mine, I'm betting a soft top would work..

and if wasn't raining I'd go out and take a peak at my hardtop... as long as it stays an inch or so away from the window glass, meaning hits the inside corner fiberglass structure, it could be cut out, and the fiberglass modded... cut the inner structure so it fits Dave, and I'll help ya fix the fiberglass later...
