I think GM made them so that they purposely caused you to skin knuckles and hurt things in your attempt to gingerly pry it out and not have it break or crack despite the torque load they are apparently under.
Zim, where'd you get that bracket exactly? Custom made? Didn't see that on Kert's site the other day.
I likes it.

Just found a few pages back where he says it's for a seat mount. Not seeing that on Kert's page but going to send him a message.
What diameter are those bars Zimm? Need to figure mine out.
I like it pretty well too Colby, hopefully all of em will work someday.Woah! Holy grail of gauge clusters!![]()
Great work. This was the first build thread I subscribed to. You have a great rig there. Can't wait to see the pics of it on the rocks in MOAB.
Ive never seen a dashboard as rusty as that... and Ive has some really rusty ****boxes.
I would almost consider a new headlight switch just to be on the safe side, but then again its not a DD or anything so it probably isnt such a big deal.
Made a Maiden voyage around the yard today.....lets just say I have a **** ton of work ahead of me....any guess's?

, that sucks !!!!! Other wise the rig looks awesome
you have really done a lot in a short period of time

I got 5 days off before I leave MI for Kerts' place....the trans is in good knowledgeable hands right now, I just don't have the time to figure it out. As I mentioned I suspect a piston seal, but can't take the time to figure it out if that isn't it. I should have it back in by Tues.Just as long as it gets on the trailer Dave, we will fix repair whatever needs to be done to get you running in Moab.
Of course it would be nice to wheel some too![]()
Sure was a different couple hours after we talked this AM Kert...messed around for about 2 hours just trying different things people had suggested, all to no avail. I kinda knew in my gut that it wasn't going to be an easy fix.Holy sit Dave! That sucks!!

ya do what ya can.. put it out of your brain and bang on everything else till ya get it back....
where I've completely failed in my plans for the rig this yr, you've pushed thru, props for the hard work..
btw, i gotta ask if ya don't mind, how much vacay do you get out of that giant evil corporation? alright, that may have been a bit over the top...![]()
so true though Paul...I started working here when it was still locally owned (Upjohn)....then a CEO outside of the family was hired and its been downhill (comparitively) since. It is still a very good job, especially in this era, and I appreciate it immensely, but its easy to bitch I guess. My work schedule includes working weekends 1/3 as part of my regular rotation. I work up to 12 scheduled days in a row, + overtime days. The unit I work in also runs 365/yr....fermentation process' that take up to 3 weeks per batch, so I also work holidays, and I work the 3-11:30 shift (which is fine with me). That rotation allows me to have a 4 day weekend every 3rd week also. So many of my vacations are scheduled around an existing 4 day weekend, (like the 5 days off I have coming up before Moab, I had to take 1 day vac to get those 5, but also had to burn 9 days vac to get a total of 15 off for the Moab trip) so it may seem like I get more than what I actually do....that explanation leads up to me stating the fact that I get 200 hours of paid vacation/6 preference holidays (days off of my choosing) and 7 company holidays.
Kert I will see you Labor day/night![]()

and well you should.. i knew you'd been there forever... didn't realize it was an odd rotating scheduley kinda thing.. my brain was more in the 2. 4, 6 weeks a year mode...

I still feel real confident I'll get it done, at least enough to run it Kert....I have given up on quite a few things that ultimately I'd still like to do, but just can't put them in at this point. We could probably still work in an hour or two or wrenchin' on Labor day/night if needed. You'll make it Dave.
Like Ryoken says, Forget the trans for now and move on. Brake lines don't need no stinkin' transmission.![]()
