I gotta get the dually home, the fix the exhaust manifolds on the 99, then gotta get the kingpin's shimmed more in the Maiden, a bunch of odds and ends I've been letting go all summer, then get ready for the bonfire weekend, then start getting stuff ready for winter, then get the Maiden back in the shop for winter work...time for a new to do list for the Maiden. You should probably kick back and put yer feet up for a month. You been bust in a$$ on that thing for the whole summer. Take a break n drink a beerya done good
That's what i figured. I got the same plan, I'm waitin on a few checks then I'll buy a car and put the blazer away for the winter and some much deserved rippin and tearin on it.

Gottta get the garage cleaned out so it has enough room for the dually too

The rig is working awesome Dave, you did an excellent job on the build.
In my opinion, don't go overboard on the kingpins Dave. I feel like I lot of people do too much to cover up the real problem without actually solving the root cause. I like the factory plastic bushings and springs, I feel like in a big impact those are there to give and break before something more serious does, like a housing, knuckle, or spindle. And with the proper toe alignment, and balanced tires, it should not death wobble even with plastic bushings and springs, just like millions of D60s out there.
However, you put the bronze bushings and springless arms in, and now you wear your actual kingpins instead of the plastic. Also, maybe you just prevented death wobble because there is nothing to wobble. But you get a large impact and there is nothing to give, so you might break something that is a lot more expensive to fix than a plastic kingpin bushing.
I don't have death wobble. I have plastic bushings, factory springs, and one set of factory washers, nothing more.
By the way, maybe you should take break from the maiden and enjoy the Vette yet this summer. I would still like to have a track day at Milan sometime in October. I'll probably end up going more than once.
Edit: Holy crap my membership expired, d@mnit, that happens ever year! I'll have to fix that.

Will have that done in a week or two, trying to make room right now, and the shop is still a disaster from the last week before Moab....needs a serious cleaning up out there. See ya tomorrow Eric.
Keith I got one washer in it now, and it was good til we went on a trail the next day, then it got real bad until I aired down to 12#, it drove pretty good then. After talking with the guys on the trail, it seems hydro-assist takes care of the problem, and will give me better control in tight situations where the tires are jammed up. I'm not sure if the stock kingpin springs are still in there or what, but it needs something, and perhaps the fact that I got a 7*(?) shim under the springpack might be contributing to the problem?
The Vette is overdue for at least one last drive this fall....I don't think I'll bother getting it to the track until I have more time to devot to tuning it more.

Make sure you check the oil before you go![]()

Where u puttin the dually? In the garage on the house or in the shop? Or just outside
my new Kenwood deck arrived at Erics place today....what timing! That'd be an awesome road trip. I covered some of that when I brought mine home. Great scenery...for a thousand miles or so...then it gets a little old...
You may want a good radio in it though. I had the original factory radio in The Blazer and some parts of that drive got VERYYYYYYY boring. My buddy claims he was on most of the drive with me since I called him so much.
awesome! I'll see if we can squeak 10 or more out of it going downhill, you need to school me on the dual tank setup K?I got 9.5 on the way home from picking it up Dave, so I think you can count on 9.
See ya tomorrow![]()
