Just a thought... could the chain/cable the BB down so it doesn't torque over so much!??

I remember guys doing that on drag cars so they wouldn`t break engine mounts.

Obviously you will clearance the tc skid plate.

So here is my two cents

You have two poly mounting places for the mount so in theory the trans and tcase can move twice as much as the engine ?

However that theory only works if it was moving and it came into contact with something that would not let it move farther.'

You can really run rubber trans mounts with poly engine mounts just cant do it the other way. The trans needs to be able to move as much as the engine is, if it cant that is when you have issues.

as mentioned before...everything is poly mounted...Kerts engine mounts and the same type of bushings used to mount the cradle to the frame "legs" that support it (the black bushings in the pic).
The cradle also has shock absorber type bushings (orange poly) that directly mount the cradle to the doubler....see pic:

I love my TCI reverse manual valve body on the 400 Turbo. Worked very well in the last few days in Moab.

Does that one have engine braking as well?

Right Dean....the skid will be modified to provide no contact between the skid and the doubler, or trans pan!

I will check the poly mounts on the engine to see if they are injured at all (doubt it) and may add a torque control device to the engine/frame.

My thoughts are, how about building a cross member between the frame rails at the bell-housing, and the trans pan for the skid. Something removable so you can still take the trans out. So that the trans and the skid are two separate elements.

Essentially the skid is acting like a frame brace or cross member, and is completely separate from the drivetrain. If you look at any gm stock drivetrain the skid is isolated or built into the crossmember and does not contact the drivetrain in any way.

that was the original intent Jesse, but the headers, driveshaft, and torque convertor cover all are in the way....it will take a while to build a tube crossmember to snake around all those things to bolt the skid too, but that will be a must have!

You could always build a main x member then brace to the higher points in the frame. Our frames get to a point and drastically climb. Thtats where I am referring to.

good idea Jess...I'll keep that in mind (if I can rmember long enough) when I get to redesign of the skid! thanks!

Hahahaha, its pretty popular at my annual bonfire (if its running) its funny hearing the girls scream like...little girls!:haha::haha:

:waytogo: How do ya do it Dave!?? :pimp:
plain and simple pimping Dean....

There has got to be more pictures than this!?!
there is 240 of them....letting Paul and Kim decide what to submit for the girls calendar!

whos the 2 girls?

The one in the seat is my daughter, Rick you should recognize her....'cept you were probably staring at her bear paw tatoos right?
the other is her blonde friend, that was also at the CK5 bonfire, she was mostly at the firepit that night....

alot off unanswered question!!!

sorry to keep ya'll hangin'....been pretty busy what with broken trans, and stuff....I guess you that were to my place for the CK5 weekend know what my world is like!

update....the T400 had a manual valve body in it, just not reverse pattern, so that is one update to the rebuild, a new TCI RMVB. The broken T400 and the replacement K case are at a local trans shop....He can do the swap for $150.....go for it dude!
The skid will get a spacer to keep it away from the 205 movement, and still need to figure out the mounting for the trans pan. Also need to replace that screaming PS pump!
Hopefully all done by next friday for the bonfire on Sat.

that's the 2 I thought..... and I was staring at the blonde friend MOST:whistle: of the time... that's a great calendar submission there:thumb:
