Found timing light...had it packed in with stuff for the last off road adventure (two years ago) and it never got unpacked!
Timing set at 14* initial, and 34* total...no vacuum...sounds delicious!
Engine fasteners checked, valve cover stud nuts were loose, allowing rust preventive fluid to seep down the block.
Most importantly.....New quarter panel logo added, and more coming!
Tube doors painted and mirror mounts added.

3 Tits Dave! :waytogo:

How does the tube door green not match...:dunno:
That is the actual zinc chromate primer, not the paint. I think some of the difference is in the pic, outside vs inside, angle taken, etc.
I took a piece of steel w the zinc on it 6-7 yrs ago to the paint shop and had them do a color match in base coat...that is whats on the tub. So maybe their color has changed some on the newer cans of zinc primer?
I’m not too concerned about it, because when we come back from Moab, I’m leaving the tube doors w Kert for a latch upgrade and powder coating over the winter.

Oh, and the fuel gauge works now too! It was the tan wire!
Cleaned the very dusty K&N air filter today too....re-oiled and ready to suck air!

Has anybody found a good base gasket for the air cleaner? One that will hold its shape?
Check yours next time you pull the air cleaner, because it Seems like every one Ive tried pushes out away from the air horn lip, making me wonder if its sealing good at all. Ive used Fel Pro and a couple others but the same result after a while. This air cleaner has a flat radiused bottom to it, and I know some aftermarket ones have a sharp edge that can cut them....There is almost a 1/8” gap all the way around the air horn lip on the throttle body.

I thought about the lighting aspect... What got me was that in the pic the doors didn't look like ryoken green either lol. Almost as if you had repainted them a whole different green.
I figured you'd have masked off the tubes and shot em with the body color paint.

Something I overlooked when painting, but going to powdercoat them after Moab.

Get that gap closed up on the air cleaner?
No, using that gasket in the pic. If I carefully place the base of the air cleaner on the gasket, I can get it to make contact all the way around. It could be much better though. Both the gasket and filter base are a bit larger than the air horn. Something that seems to be an issue no matter what gasket/carb/air cleaner Ive used...its always an issue.

Tons of little time consuming things....
But gotta be done!
The insulation in the floor will be a big help I think, but the triple sticks hole is something to ponder. I have the ORD boots but the plate is flat and my hole goes down the side of the trans tunnel a bit to where the boot plate don’t fit. May need to make a custom plate for the floor?
Nice to have the body assembly done, Chinese parts bring the suck for sure.
Gotta finish off this list tomorrow, and do some removable fenders on the trailer and start packing up Tues.

One tire has a chunk out of it and the steel belts are poking through...its bit me once before.
Its a slow leaker, and Im wondering how much pressure it will take before she blows.

Do tell!? Lol!

Not stupid but the whole “panama” story was epic! :haha:

sometimes you have to sieze the moment!

I found a couple bootleg videos...Sammy hands the mic over about 48:00 while signing t shirts...Panama never sounded so good!...lol
