'78 K10 Build

Whatever I was trying to say. My gramps showed me along time ago scratches only make you able to use your vehicle more without concern. He told me the best thing to do with a new truck was get a rusty piece of iron and throw it in the back and drive around the section as fast as you could. That would get the first box scratches out of the way and then you could use is like normal.

At the dealership I saw an old farmer reach over the side of his old truck grab the end of a chain and drag it link by link over the side onto the ground then drag it over to his new truck, throw the chain hook in the box of his new truck, climb in and drag it link by link over the side of his new truck. They are just tools, scratches never hurt my wrenches.

Gramps used to pull his tailgate off right away and put it in the shed then when the truck was ready to be traded in he would put the new looking tailgate on a beat down truck.

I appreciate the function over form thing for sure, my Sub originally was a beat on rusted out hulk. But as I got a little older, I wanted a decent interior and paint, with A/C. Iv discovered women like it more, ANNNNNND since Im still young, thats basically the only thing that has value at this moment in my life. But if the scratches and dents do come, I wont worry, but I just dont go out of my way to accomplish them anymore.

OH I like the inside nice but I have dent and no drip rails on my K30 cab. Plus I am married and she likes the "blue truck".

Yeah once you get married, who cares what your truck looks like anymore? If you get a nice expensive one, the judge will make you sell it and give the money to her when she decides to leave you!! :doah:

This one isn't leaving. She even has her own truck and wants to start bringing my k10 so the "girls" can wheel on their own. I may build her a blazer yet.

but the last one got the truck, the boat, the camper, the 4 wheeler and all the payments. should have pushed her to keep the house too so I wouldn't be still trying to sell it. I like trucks that get horrible mpgs and have no payments.

When I first started dating my now girlfriend, I gave her a 10min class on truck etiqutte. Since then. I've never had to correct her about slamming doors or keys on the hood. If my truck wasn't the ONLY good looking obs around here then I wouldn't care... Hence why I'm buying another k10

Had it up in the air to change the oil and get it ready for Tuttle, so I put the new 205 speedo cable "sleeve nut" in I've had for a while.

I love having access to a lift.

Now the speedometer bounces around 50mph.

All the nut is that I replaced, is a seal. It's probably the cable. You can see its melted a little, but it didn't do it hardly at all before. With these trucks, you fix one thing, and another thing breaks. :haha:Oh well.

I know that's right. Try taking that adapter thing off just to see if that will fix it. Of course it will be showing like 10 mph slow.

Well that may just get your speedometer situation straight then! You know you can change the plastic gears in the tail housing to correct the speedo too right? I mean it may not matter to you that much.

Having access to a lift makes life so much easier. My old man has owned his own tranny shop since 79, and it has 4 split arm racks and 2 drive on racks. Rack = lift for those that dont know. I grew up in the place, now it makes putting lifts on or working on the underside easy greasy. Love it.
