I agree with both you. I ran the stock tbi pump and it works great. Other than my sender being off and no fuel gauge

Mine is not in my y pipe. Welded the bung right after the collector. You think it's not heating up enough as opposed to actually putting it in the collector? We both have long tune headers
 
Google a set of TBI aftermarket headers and see where the bung is but I'm pretty sure it's on the collector. Later models have another type of O2 sensor also and they go back behind the collector a good ways downstream, but not for the TBI engines. I don't think.
 
You wont need a heated 02 at all if its welded into a single cylinders tube about 8in from exhaust port.

Having it down there by the collector isnt HURTING the truck, but it wont go into closed loop wheeling or putting around town. It will need higher RPMs to achieve the 700* of exhaust gas temp to activate the sensor. Highway driving for example. I had mine down on the collector for a long time and always noticed it ran different if I drove it on the street. So, curiosity got the best of me as I have access to a sophisticated digital Snap On scanner I hooked it up and drove around, it would stay in open loop until I hit the highway, I perused around the interwebs and discovered the heated 02 option, and did it in about an hr, and it hits and stays in closed loop in under 5min.

Long story short, a non heated one down in the collector isnt hurting anything, your just not getting the maximum out of your truck in open loop (unless its tuned for that).

And all TBI headers I seen (not saying Im always right) had the bung on the driverside rear most tube about 8in down from the head.
 
With long tubes, put the o2 anywhere upstream of the collector and use a heated unit as previously mentioned. You can put it after the collector but then you have a higher chance for it to "smell" exhaust leaks which will make it not run properly. As for the fuel pump issue, in take will always be better than in line. But obviously you could always run the in line to get running and then do the in tanks as you have time.
 
I just need to find some tbi headers then. That sounds like the easiest option and is a plus since my headers are rusting out and have holes everywhere. Who has them for a good price??

No, haven't even started. I'm doing an engine swap at the same time so it's gunna be a little while yet.
 
I love how your truck turned out. You did a great job on it. I especially love the dually hubcap on the H1 wheel. It looks great. I have a question for you. Do alot of you guys out in Nebraska run the Military 37's on the factory 16.5" chevy wheels? Any problems with them balancing and causing death wobble? I have the RT II 36s on old 16.5" wheels and I need to get some new tires. I am trying to find some 37's because they have to ride better than these bias ply tires. I was thinking about just throwing balance beads in them.

Thank you, Sir. A lot of us Ne guys, and CK5 guys have them now or have ran them at some point. In my opinion the BFG's I have are a great tire. They perform great, look great, and wear great. I use airsoft BB's to balance mine and my truck goes down the road pretty smooth considering what it is. I doubt you could get them to balance with standard weights.

How many oz's do you run of the air soft bbs?
 
Compared to the 36s the 37s in goodyear or bfg ride like a caddy. I had a set of goodyears over 100mph so many times it isn't funny. Smart no but it never acted up.
