79 blazer build

I got the bumper done today. I just have to drill the holes for the winch and I can call it good.

Well it's been several years and the blazer has sat unused for a long time. We have moved twice and finally I have it in the new shop and ready to get to work. She is getting new seats, PSC steering, hydro boost, cage upgrades, discs in the back, and Detroit in the D60!

Nice. :D Get 'er done and let's go wheelin! (I've since moved to Reno....)

I do have a question. I upgraded to hydro boost and now I don't have power brakes at all. Anyone have an idea? Steering is working great, brakes have no air. Had to make a rod to go between the hydro boost and master cylinder.

I am up for any wheeling around Reno. Give me a few days to work out the brake problem then I am in.

Are both of those pics from Rubicon? Do you have a thread of your Rubicon trip pics? I'd like to see what I'll be getting myself into w/ a Blazer later this year. :D

We're headed out to the Wind Caves this weekend, the easy route - not the Steve's Loop route - because we're bringing a bunch of folks from church in their plain-jane SUVs. Should be fun tho.

Very good job on the build man. Props to you. Did you biuld the cage inside the hard top? Thats what I did with mine was build it inside so that way I KNEW I could run a top or not.

Yes, hard top fits over the cage. I cut the steel half cab off and converted it over to the 73-75 top. So I can have it full convertible. Also, with the steel top I did not have room for my head and a cage.

I have a bunch of rubicon pics. If you like straight body panels you might have a problem, or be very slow. You are welcome to tag along with us. We are up there several times per month in the summer. Mostly day trips on the Tahoe side.

when? I have never been out there.

We're leaving at 10:30 tomorrow morning from Spanish Springs.

I'm OK with slow, methodical wheelin. I'm also OK with mild sheetmetal damage. I'll have some good sliders by then, and hopefully some more armor too.

Thanks for the invite. Probably won't be ready for Rubicon stuff till the fall though. Do you just start on the Tahoe side and drive in a ways and then turn around and come back? How does that work for a day trip? Where can I look at your photos?

Cool build! Just read through it all. Looking forward to updates :thumb:

We like to go in to the overlook. Only one mild spot on the day trip. Would be a great test trip for your first time. I will start posting rubicon pics. They are only on my computer.
