79 Blazer Smash 2.0

79 Blazer with a few modifications
Really did not like the way the previous fender hacker done them. I had a 86 front clip on the side yard so a facelift it gets. This way I can cut them just the way I want and making a tilt front end will be easier with the cowl grill and hood being sepetator pieces.

Starting all the cutting and trimming to the body. Little off the corners for now. Want to cut the roof off and trim the doors but only after I tub the inner fenders on the back.

Fuel cell unit filled with water checking for leaks. At the bottom is a baffle and the mounting for two Holley Hydramats at both ends. It’s only a third of the way done as the top of the fuel cell needs to be put into the box and all the plumbing as well.

Fuel pickups installed ( except for the hold down springs so they don’t float away) with the dual pickup tube. Fuel pump heat sink mount and the filter pressure regulator mounted. Waiting on some AN fittings to finish up the plumbing. The top of the fuel cell will have the access door with level sender and the fuel air trap vent.

I cut the fuel pump mount off the fuel cell. I started thinking about it and the mount being hard mounted to the cell was going to make a lot of noise. I’m fabricating it to use rubber isolation mounts that will quiet it down.

Anti vibration mounts welded in, fuel filler tubes and the modified mount with the rubber mounts. Put a tube onto the access door for the fuel sender so it doesn’t get sloshed around badly. X
It’s all filled with water checking for leaks. 37 gallons.

Awesome build man!
Thanks I appreciate that.

Finalizing this fuel delivery unit. Haven’t welded this much aluminum at one time in a while and it doesn’t help that it’s 101 degrees outside , whew. Started putting on the flange that will mount it into the back of the floor between the frame rails.

Mounting flanges done! Fuel air trap system (FATS) plumbed in! The fuel filter at the end of the FATS is a catch can and air filter for it. I’m going to replace all the self tapper screws with machine screws and nylocks. I’ve got this done in time to finish up the motor and run it in on a stand very excited.
