79 Blazer Smash 2.0

79 Blazer with a few modifications
Well the cutting has begun. I have 4 of those trailer fenders to make new wheel tubs. All I did here was make a small (ha ha) cut and will now fit those new ones in there. Gotta clear the military 46 Goodyears.

The inner part got a little messy because I got impatient. Nothing a good smear of seam sealer won’t fix. Looks like I will have plenty of room for tires , shock towers and this monster 16” 2.5 Fox shocks

1 million more tack welded and some metal to close them in and boom wheel tubs. No mud on the back of my head now. Hmmm gotta fit in some shock towers.

Fenders are nice and big but there is 3” to the frame from the inside of the wall. I have some large 11” RuffStuff towers and need to make room for them. I’m going to be cutting holes into those new fenders and and a notch in the floor for the tower. Instead of fabricating flanged box covers or just some sheet rubber to cover them up I am going to use steam table trays. They come in different sizes, have rounded corners, and a nice convent flange to make mounting a snap. Just trim off one end to length you need.

Towers are not done yet but the fender wells are getting close. Didn’t see a need to make the tower boxes removable because of access on the outside. Those pans cost 12$ each and saved a bunch of time. I’m going to have to Frankenstein the last part at the bottom but that’s it. The shock I’m using for mock up is a 14” travel pro comp fully extended. At full extension it is as long as my 16” Fox 2.5 at 6” uptravel.

I’m focused on building this beast and stuck at home doing “ adult “ stuff. Pfffffft. Really want to get the motor finished as well.
