79 Blazer Smash 2.0

79 Blazer with a few modifications
Yeah I’m working on projects that pay actual $. I did just get my front driveshaft material for my long travel shafts. The front shaft ended up being 37” long. 1350 joints and double Cardan and the slip should be 27” or so. The rear driveline is 41” so I’m having the shop build 2 fronts and 1 rear. It makes a nice spare front or rear.im using this material for the shafts.

Back in my demolition derby days a lot of guys were using that for drive shafts. With the frames bending it was nice to have a driveshaft that would collapse or extend.

Check these out for slip. Derby stuff.

We (driveshaft guy and myself) used that spline and collar setup before with good results. The price for parts got high , like Snoop Dog high and We started using the AG stuff. He builds them and I finish off some details and We balance them.

Heading towards laying out a dashboard. A double DIN touch screen stereo unit is going to be front and center. It can do full and split screen between 2 cameras. It also can read files as well as music Bluetooth from the phone allowing me to have digital topographic maps. I didn’t want to go full Lowerance GPS or anything like that cause I still like to get lost a little bit. 10 meter radio and some gauges. I have a waterproof Lifepod to mount up there for a pistol as well as a good ole wild Wild West out in the open holster. The rest of the dash on the passenger side will be wire shelving of some sort to hold trauma/first aid , some quick grab recovery gear, fire extinguishers cup holder, grab handles.
What are some of the go to things you like up front?

Finalized the removable floor sections. Bolted in the driveshafts and I thought the bolts were going through the front of the driveshaft into the flange, nope they go through the flange into the driveshaft. So I modified the middle section to give me more room for my hand and wrenches cause there is no way to use a socket. I welded all the sections and installed Rivetnuts so no self tapper screws. This afternoon I was looking at it about to go home proud that I got all that work done and noticed that I didn’t fill the original transfer case shifter hole , ugh.

Got my wheels for the 46” military tires. I had US Wheel make these 20 x12 with 3.75 back spacing 8 on 6.5 raw steel. I’m going to make some rock rings that will mimic a military looking wheel.

I'm usually not a fan of big dia wheels because so many are bro dozer styles BUT a 20" old school wagon wheel is pretty dang sweet. :pimp:

Got some nice straight non power doors for S2.0. Before I cut them up into 73-75 ones I will fit up the soft top and see how they’ll fit.

Not sure if you’ve seen it but I have a photo album here with all the cut measurements if needed.
