Agreed. Something about an engine cage that says, "GET SOME!"
They'll be in the back, passenger side just in front of the rear wheel well. Sort of half in and half outside the truck through the floor.
From a wiring standpoint, it'd be better to have them on the Driver's side but that's where the fuel tank will be and I really like a Drivers side fuel fill. I guess a few extra feet of battery cable is worth not having to walk around the truck every time you fill up.

Never had that problem. I like the passenger side fill. Most vehicles today have driver side fill which leaves more pumps open for my passenger side fill
Some more engine cage work.
They look different and they are slightly. Most importantly, they are the same as far as the shock absorber is concerned.
That looks really good. I would love to take my truck to you and finish my cage. I like the engine cage for sure

That's funny you say that. I noticed that in the pic as well. Pipe must have gotten knock around a bit when we were fitting that hoop.

Yesterday we were able to make up some fake shocks at the ride height length so we could figure up some shock mounting and not have the shock absorbers sitting there near the welding.
Here's an in process shot of what we got planned. There will be two of these for the double shear mounting then the top will get capped with some 10ga. all the way around the 180* tube. Maybe some dimple die punched holes.

That is another great fab tool I have been wanting to make. For my last shocks setup I just drilled a hole in the body of some bad shocks and drained them. Only problem is they don't stay at that length you want. I guess just cutting and welding a piece of metal each time is easy enough, but I always end up repurposing those types of tools/metal.
Yeah, the length changing and trying to compress the shock all the time is a no go.
It's almost impossible to set up a suspension on a 4 link without some shock "stand ins." Especially on a vehicle that isn't completely built yet.
We've made them before out of tubing but I prefer the flat steel. Easier to get an angle finder on the fake shock and get a good measurement.

Looking very good! It's definitely coming along you'll be able to drive it this summer at this rate.
