80's short box, "S.E.R.E." Box permanently attached to the cab.

Looking very good! It's definitely coming along you'll be able to drive it this summer at this rate.

I don't know about that. I'm not quite that optimistic. Still a complete tear down and reassembly in there.

Good job!

Awesome work Sir!
Love the attention to detail.
Can't wait to check it out in person.

Until then, keep up the great work!

Thanks guys! when/where we meeting up again John?

How was I suppose to know that?! LOL! I haven't had the privilege of being in his shop. That is funny, though.

Question still remains. So, was that an early Company logo?

That is a pre 2008 logo. Very easy to work with, not very memorable.

Kelly and I are planning to attend both the Rausch Creek and the Dunes CK5 get together.
Lots of things to get done on the trucks between now and then.

Busy year planned already including a Long Range Sniper course in June for Kelly and I. That will be Cool !!!

Trying not to let a recent serious issue at the shop stop our plans for this year.

Hope we can meet at one of these runs..??

Don't think i'll be at any of those events. Long range snipe course sounds awesome.

All depends on my build I guess. Not a whole lot left on the front end. After this I think we'll start in on the interior and some of the tail end stuff. Lots of tube work back there as well as build a permanent topper.

Finally got the radiator mounted to the core support.

Should have a fan mounted by tomorrow evening.

Somebody had asked for pics of how the cage is connected to the frame. Here's a couple shots.

Keep in mind, we're using our pseudo polys right now. When final assembly happens, we'll switch out the aluminum for the actual poly urethane.

Finished up a lot of the welding on the cage that is present at this time.

Kert, do you make your own dimple dies? Just curious.

The mounts and cage are lookin freeking awesome. :waytogo:

Nope. I could but sometimes, its not worth the time or effort to make things like that.

Thanks!

Like fine art on all the welding and design!

and he makes it look so dam easy too.....

from years of pulling the trigger!:waytogo:

Nice work Kert, maybe I missed it but are there more supporting struts to those shock mounts?

There will be a bar that wraps around the rear of the engine. I've also looked at making a small kicker down to the frame with another poly joint to isolate it.

I'm going back and forth on the kicker down to the frame. If I do that one, it will certainly be in the way at some point. Would add a lot of strength and resistance to twisting on the hoop itself.

I'm running bilsteins with a fairly heavy valving in the front so there will be the potential for some flex. Decisions pending.

This last week or so has been super busy and haven't had much time for the truck.

That being said, I made this little gadget up a couple weeks ago and hadn't gotten around to snapping a photo of it.

It's a phone charger and audio jack. I have a mount for the phone that I can either attach to the dash itself or to the dash bar of the roll cage right close by these ports.

The dash that is going in this truck was originally built for the crew cab so some of the gauges that were there no longer apply and I just can't see starting over or having an empty hole.

Yeah, the length changing and trying to compress the shock all the time is a no go.

It's almost impossible to set up a suspension on a 4 link without some shock "stand ins." Especially on a vehicle that isn't completely built yet.

Can't you just let the nitrogen out of the shock? That works pretty well, unless they are factory type shocks I guess. I build is looking great Kert, nice job as always.

If you just ran a full welded bar across the top of the engine tieing the 2 hoops together and put the cage bar ties in like these \/\/\/ at each end. then its still removable but would strengthen it a lot and prevent the flex

I use an audio connector similar to that to run my stereo through the phone. I found I needed a filter so I didn't get feedback while charging the phone. Same thing happens in my '08 Silverado. This is the one I got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EAQTRI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works really well.
