80's short box, "S.E.R.E." Box permanently attached to the cab.

Kert,

Whats the hinged piece of plywood? :popcorn:n It reminds me of my old slot car track hanging on my basement wall.

That's my kids train track. Got to get back to work on that thing. Need to recover it with the fake grass stuff. Might just do some felt this time.

Yup...getting ready to head to Fort Polk to play laser tag with blanks here in the near term myself.

I've thought about swapping out the blanks for some .223 FMJ to make it look a little cooler but I always come back to having better uses for the FMJ stuff.

Getting real close on the air intake/snorkel. Waiting on a couple 90* aluminum elbows but won't be long after that.

Here's the current state of the air filter box. Got to get the last flange with the aluminum tubing that goes through the fender put on.

Snaking the 4" tube through the engine bay around our engine cage is gona be interesting.

to feed that motor I'd suggest a filter like this,,\/\/\/ to get more air... that's pretty tight looking around the end there. may flow more than it looks :dunno: but still seems like a choke point

We'll see. I think it will be all right but if not, I had looked at those filters like you posted.

I keep meaning to run some area numbers vs. the diameter of the 4" tube. There is actually 1" all the way around the filter end.

I bet there is at least as much area as the end of a 4 inch tube... but I was just thinking of the flat surface in the middle and such velocity of air that itll make a major turbulance spot ....

You could be right. Guess we'll find out.

I love the snorkle design :waytogo:... You going 4" round all the way up or going to the oval tubing outside

4" round all the way up is the plan for now. I really can't come up with a good controlled way to turn the 4" round into an oval, which I'd prefer. I think it'd end up being a mess.

Sweet looking route Kert...so its going up and into the cab from there?

Nah, up and follow the A pillar for the snorkel.

Don't look like the vintage air unit is quite small enough to allow that to go through the firewall.

It looks like its real close to the fender area to make a 90*, or is that not a concern?

they have buyable round to oval adaptors, but I think they're like 5"-6" long though :doah: gonna be fine and sweet either way:thumb: the life span of this truck will be REAL long... the most solid built, heavy duty pickup truck in the area for sure:bow:
