83/09 4bt K5 (BB2016)

Heres a picture of my drag link, made it out of a dana 44 tie rod, there is a solid shaft inside of it where i spliced it, should hold.
This was also my second attempt, the first one i made the bend to close to the oil pan and i tried to fix it, it got worse, and then worse.:tongue1:

Also found a bunch of cylinders off a concrete saw, might see how much movement they have and try and build a hydro assist.

Honestly, I had not looked at this thread because I thought it was another typical (boring) 6bt swap. Man I'm diggin the 4bt, really neat! Need more (wheeling) videos!

Thanks! Hopefully have some next weekend! Lockers and the 4bt crawl up and over just about anything, just takes about 15 seconds to build boost:haha:

We have 9 tape measures in our tool box.
So obviously i eyeballed the whole thing until it was welded together, the the mount on the passenger side needs to go back 1.5 inches and driver side needs to go back 1 inch. That should make the shackle angle a little better, still not the best, but it'll work for one weekend.

Here is the front, the brackets are just tacked so they will be easy to move, and i notched the frame to put the 2x6 tubing up into it, so its not completely below the frame.

It'll look better when i get a winch and some sort of front bumper to cover it up.

Here's the shackles right now, they will be better after i move the axle back a little

Whats the plan for the front driveshaft? They like to pull apart with 52s. Square shaft? Im thinking thats the way to gl as opposed to limit straps...

Why build those brackets for the front?

Martin

They are leaf spring brackets off the front of a breadvan, I had already spent 30 minutes getting them off before I realized they weren't wide enough. Haha, so I just used them anyway

I'm just going to lengthen it for now, it probably won't flex enough to come apart when it's the right length

I think once you do the 6 inch shackles like were going to do the shaft will pull apart. That would be the stock shaft. I think ill do a square shaft so itll have a lot of slip.

I have a bar welded in between the shackles to limit the travel so the stock length slip should work, if not oh well, it's getting redone in probably 2 weeks anyway haha

Nice. Where/when did you get the boggers?

They are borrowed, I might throw my military tires back on though

Working on getting on board air right now, got the York compressor mounted and some cool military tanks in the back
