83 Blazer Build

top of steering shaft which now is splined. cut off splined end of stock, and welded on lower 1/2 of stock shaft to create a solid upper 1/2 of an xj setup. lower 1/2 on truck is still the stock xj with u-joint setup. if that makes sense, other pic is of my new spring plates/u-bolts from diy4x

so....been awile since ive updated. ive since had multiple electrical shorts, fuel tank (saddle tanks) problems and my paint is ****. So ive made a deal with a friend. i traded the gagues i got from ION to put in my truck for a clean 83 blazer. paint/boddy good. 305/350/208. gonna gut the blazer and move all my powertrain/suspenion/axles over to it. will post up pics soon as im already in progress with it. should be fun.

hopefully will just take a few weekends and have the swap done, guess ill have to change my name on here too since i wont have the 78 anymore.

gonna use ORD custom springs for the front on the new blazer but will keep my 56" rear springs with ORD flip and Diy4x shackles. still waiting to do the swap for shop space. am hoping to have drivetrain in by dec

went to install skid plate with 2nd crossmember. 2nd member wont work as the frame slopes up and doenst give it a flat surface to mount on. should i use spacers? or do i not have the correct 2nd member to mount it on. 203 t-case. anyone have pics of the 2 crossmember setup?

from factory, i believe it uses some 2" L-shaped angle brackets.

i've got the same issue right now, i've got the cross member and the skid plate, but no mounting brackets.

here's a thread with some info.

Started tear down on the blazer yesterday. only had a couple hours to tow it, get all setup on jacks, but got the exhaust off, and rear suspension out. will be dropping the tank and the front suspension today and hopefully moving mine onto it. taking pics this time ill post them soon. and no longer gonna use my engine/trans. ends up this blazer has a 305/700r4. will get the 305 running and then put a 6.0 LS into it.

Tank is outta the blazer, going to replace all the flex lines. 14B is out of my truck and ready to go in. just need to torch out the stock rear mount and bolt my ORD drop shackle in. Hoping to have the suspension all in tomorrow so we can move it around.

Made some progress this weekend.

on a side note. went to put my new alcan springs in the front and with new poly bushings installed the front mount is way skinnier then the stock mount on the blazer. do i just need thick washers to fill it? Also needing to order some bushings and shackles for the rear of the front springs. Hopefully will all come in while im in mexico and i can finish install when im back.

just ordered the correct bushings for my ORD springs so i can finish the suspension. meanwhile ill be drinking some beers in mexico starting friday while i wait for my goodies to show up :woot:

traded it and the engine/trans for the blazer and a 5.3 or 6.0 powertrain:pimp:

Back from mexico and my suspension goodies from ORD are here, now just gotta wait till the weekend to finish front axle/springs install and get the 305 running for now. :D

so i will be finishing up the suspension minus the shocks tomorrow and will hopefully have the 305 running but i have 1 issue, anyone know the fuel line ID sizes of the lines coming off the sending unit and the fill tube ID? need to get those before going outta town to the shop that the blazer is in

Sorry, I'm no help. But, keep up the work! Looking forward to seeing it done. :)
