I will tell you a couple of brands I have had good luck with. But sometimes region, terrain, and driving style come into play. I am in Montana so a lot of snow and ice, gravel roads, rocks and mud during spring breakup. Hankook good but wear fast, cooper stt and toyo but spendy, really like kumhos but not super aggressive ( run them on wife's suburban) excellent in snow and ice. Right now I put general at2 on because I have started to travel a lot for work and needed more of a road tire. BFG's are awesome but top of the money. I would run the km2 in a heart beat but will get you closer to 1500.
Best advice, look at peoples tire in parking lots and see what they run on there rigs. Talk to locals who off road around you and get their opinion. Like I said different region different needs.
