Yeah his buddy built it IIRC. It's really beefy, prob weighs 70-80lbs. I just have to figure out how to mount it, the k5 frame extends out further than the truck frames so it won't bolt up as is.

I would get two pieces of scrap steel and make an adapter to go between the frame's original bumper mounting holes and the ones on the bumper. That way you could easily go back to a stock-style bumper and sell the Blazer bumper in the future if you had to. Just a thought.

I like this idea too.

That's my intention so I can remove the bumper. This frame is pretty beat up so going back to stock isn't really a concern.

Finally received my 67" Trail Gear sliders after UPS decided to lose them for a few days :doah:I'm spoiled as I receive and expect all my stuff from Summit next day.

Pretty stout sliders and for $200 to my door they're a pretty affordable option. Only complaint is that the legs aren't log enough to reach the frame, I need some that are 14.25"-15" long based on some quick measurements. Today I'll grab some 2" .120 wall DOM to extend the legs.

Few pics of the mock up:

Rims also arrived last Friday

and the mirrors are mounted so I'm legal on the street. These fold in or unscrew really easy as well.

lot's of little crap to get done over the next ten days before the Rubicon trip.

Those sliders were only $200? That's pretty good. I guess they won't work with a side saddle gas tank. I wonder if you could call up and request them to make you a pair that would have long enough supports so you wouldn't have to extend them.

Yeah the 58s are perfect for a k5. Mine were about $175 and free shipping from 4wp. It would be nice if you didnt have to extend them but there pretty mass produced as they are really intended for a toyota so i dont think they do custom sizes. I was going to build sliders from scratch but as skunked and i have experienced, the price of steel is too much to make some yourself. Not to mention the time + possible need for a bender.

I also bought this kit because i felt like i could get a better bite on the frame with welding mine on:

I bought the TG plates and gussets

I'll need to get creative around the cross member, probably cut off the 90 degree part that is suppose to wrap under the frame.

I attempted to make my own with square tubing a few years ago but I never could get them right. I still have four 1/4" plates bolted to my frame where they were going to attach. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about them... <sniff sniff>

I know how it goes. My truck makes me feel like im out in the ocean during a storm with a dinghy. lol

Found them on etrailer but ended up buying them through Amazon since I get their stuff next day. They're a cheap option for sure, the clamp is metal and the rest is plastic.

ha!

It's one of those items you buy and can't figure out how they make any money selling them.

couple small updates

I ended up removing the seat so I could properly install the seat cover, this allowed for the removal of the old crappy carpet that someone installed with residential carpet padding.

gone

Apparently I forgot to take a picture of the seat covered and reinstalled. It's just the old school 80's style cover, bought it on Amazon for $30. Later I'll get buckets when I do the cage.

went and had the tires mounted yesterday

The Warriors game sucked me in so I didn't get a chance to mount them but I put one on as a teaser late last night.

Are you going to put some bedliner down where the (probably stinky) old carpet pad was? I have bare metal there on my truck and it gets pretty hot in the summer. I would think some kind of coating would maybe help reduce some of that but I don't know.

Poor ol' LeBron. Boo hoo hoo.
