Only update I have to share is that I finally received my transmission cooler from Derale.
I'm still thinking about mounting this in the bed up next to my tool box.

Did you get rid of the coolers up front? Probably beneficial to put it in the bed seeing how it takes a while for water to reach it.
My 4 core radiator is bypassed, but I had it routed through a cheapie stand alone cooler in front of the radiator previously. If it was daily driver I would route it through the radiator so the fluid warms up quicker however after talking with the transmission builder I don't feel like that is necessary. Plus running the lines up to the bed rather than up past the headers and back sounds better.
I thought about mounting it up against the bed with some holes drilled through so it pulls air between the bed and the cab

Did they include rubber isolaters? That's thw only way I'd mount it but yeah I think you got something with the cooling holes. Do it to it!
Not sure but there's a bag of hardware and fittings with it. Some rubber or poly feet probably wouldn't hurt though.
In going to try and use the stock frame in some sections and I'll use plate in others. I should go back and look at his thread again, it's been a while.
I used a stock frame to box my '72 Jimmy. I ran a plasma cutter down the inside corners and removed the top and bottom flanges from the donor frame. Welded the drivers side donor inside the passenger side of the good frame and the same for the other side. It wasn't an exact fit, but the material is thin enough to bend into place.
glad to hear that worked for you too. I kinda invisioned using a plasma as you described. Should save some time and money.

Course and let us know which plasma your using. Looking at Eastwood versa cut 60 as my pockets are not deep for the 1k and up. But am eye balling the esab rebel since will kill multi welders and can sell mine off.
My plasma is a hyperthem 30, haven't used it much but it burns through 1/4" no problem so I don't expect any problems with the frame.
That one have the built in compressor? if so how does it due on thicker metal for building bumpers?
No the compressor is not built in.

I pressure washed it first to get most of the mud/grime off it. Some of the surface rust was removed in this process. All the rust comes off with a light scuff so that's nice.
Plasma, chizzel, hammer, repeat.
Still need to strip the rear bumps, e-brake cable brackets, spring hangers and the aftermarket rear bumper supports that the PO welded on.
and I've been doing lots of painting.....
also installed the 205 support however two of the bolts wouldn't line up so I had to drill those two bolt holes out to 9/16". Need to send Kert an email about that so he knows about it.

That's some decent progress.
Are you going to cut off or change the frame horns? They're different on the 73-80 trucks.

I have a 70's K10 frame under the truck with butchered front rails from a collision and poor repair work. I did have to trim a horn a little on one rail for the A-bomb to slide far enough in for the bolt holes to line up. Not sure what if any trimming will be needed on this frame but I'll do whatever is necessary to fit the A-bomb.
