Or...hang it from the rafters and roll the frame back under it. That works good too. I have a come a long hanging from mine now. Works good for all kinds of foolishness!

Hahahaha, you might be doing it wrong...HA! I did that while milking the cows. Lol!
If I had exposed rafters I would be all over that. My garage is rocked and textured and I have a hard time trusting i hooks.
So is mine... I cut a hole and braced it up. Hung a big block 465 and a 208 all bolted together from it. Not even a creak was heard.

Yeah mine has a attic above. You could still do that to yours too by laminating some 2x10s together but that would be way too much work for what you want to do.
I have seen guys lift cabs with a engine hoist. Maybe that could work for you?

Actually alot of farmers will pull a calf out of a cow, if it's still born, coming out the wrong way, or the heifer/cow is having a hard time birthing.
One end of the come long on the calf, one end on the post of the barn.
