Or...hang it from the rafters and roll the frame back under it. That works good too. I have a come a long hanging from mine now. Works good for all kinds of foolishness!

If I had exposed rafters I would be all over that. My garage is rocked and textured and I have a hard time trusting i hooks.

So is mine... I cut a hole and braced it up. Hung a big block 465 and a 208 all bolted together from it. Not even a creak was heard.

attic space above? Mine is a two story so I have a bedroom above the garage.

Yeah mine has a attic above. You could still do that to yours too by laminating some 2x10s together but that would be way too much work for what you want to do.

I have seen guys lift cabs with a engine hoist. Maybe that could work for you?

the cab idea my buddy mentioned. I should look into that some more......

Actually alot of farmers will pull a calf out of a cow, if it's still born, coming out the wrong way, or the heifer/cow is having a hard time birthing.

One end of the come long on the calf, one end on the post of the barn.

Right? @max 02

Yeah... No! I have heard about guys doing that.
So not the way to do it. Dead calf ruined cow/ heifer. We use calving jacks, but carefully.
I guess that is the same thing. But i have heard bad stories.

Yes, there is risk to be had for sure. Unfortunately, I have been part of the process both ways. Not really a fun thing to do at 9 pm on a Saturday night.
