This past Tuesday & Wednesday I joined @bmxbryant9 and @530BLAZER for a quick run to Bowman lake. We ended up finding a decent amount of shitty snow to make it difficult, fun and put a couple new dents in the truck.

Woke up in the early AM to rain so we packed up and left before the expected snow storm hit us.

As soon as we hit the snow on the way out I lost all power steering. The system took about a 1/4 of a Quart but wouldn't come back to life. It was cold, wet and the snow had became icey. I was fighting to follow Zak's grooves and eventually got wedged up against some trees and had to winch back up onto the snow. In the process I broke some trim and the clips that hold my headlight in.

The road from there didn't have snow but there was a lot of tight turns and switchbacks which were a bitch with no PS and aired down. I eventually figured out that reving the engine would give me some power steering so I started two footing, reving the engine and braking while the truck was in neutral. Pain in the ass but we made it back to town, aired up and drove the 60 miles back home.

I called a tech as PSC to confirm it was the pump (almost new) and he said it could be the control valve located in the back of the pump or a clogged screen. He said it's a common problem they see, so I'll pull it apart this weekend and take a look before I do anything else.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw that picture you posted in the PAD thread. That's the kind of stuff that's put the dents in my truck. The big thing I hate about snow runs.

The picture where you talk about the tube doors looks like you're falling into a stream under the snow.

The snow is old, slickinshitty and off camber so we fought to stay away from the tree's often. Add the loss of power steering and it was challenge.

and yes there was a stream running under the snow, I was trying to go around it.

I always forget how similar are builds are.

Other than you actually using yours. But it seems like our mods are fairly close, or close to what I’m bout to be working on.

I say that because I am in the process of cleaning up my wiring now and just lookin at your switch panel reminded me of what I was thinking bout doing.

Been a rough couple weeks. I injured myself riding skateboard and spent a week in the hospital. Been home for the last week without any phone/computer access until today.

I figured something had to be up. There was talk about BBQ in the PAD and smoker thread and you didn't say anything. So I clicked on your profile and it said it had been awhile.
Did you go off of some sweet jumps?
