'84 K5 Build (Midlife Crisis)

Seriously, water patrol? Thats a thing?
In WA they have air police. We had a guy roll up on me and my neighbor burning the weeds out of our gravel driveways with a propane torch. “Excuse me, you are not allowed to do that. It is against the clean air act of the city….blah blah” my neighbor who is even more red neck than me totally blew his lid on the guy for coming onto our property. Among other hilarious redneck ramblings. Needless to say the guy left with teary eyes and his fictional tail between his legs. Said he was going to report it. Never saw him ever again lol he walked up on the wrong good ol boys that day.

Yeah I’m definitely liking it. I’ll pick up some nice matte black paint and do both rigs when it cools off.

I have been contemplating swapping my sm465 to a nv4500 lately….
No reason to, other than I like having a reason to work on her haha.
Question is, will it fit?
I have been in discussion with @ZooMad75
About the dimensions compared to my current short setup, and it appears my t-case would move 5” to the rear.
I am measuring 5-1/2” from my t-case to rear link mounts now. Seems it would clear. I can’t see any other interference other than my muffler location.
I guess it’s time to start accumulating parts haha.

Shoulkd be a good thing for your front shaft length too?

Hell yeah! Do eeettt!

Yeah definitely. Right now my shafts are
27” front and 40” rear.

Lengthening the front shaft kicks ass. What's gonna be sweet is when you get the tranny mocked up with the extra length front shaft, you can then figure out how much higher up you can clock the tcase and move the skid up, muffler be damned....

The AGM batteries are supposed to be better for holding electrons onto their plates in rough driving conditions such as off roading , but their life span is no longer than any other battery. Three years is typical life span for a battery in Las Vegas for a daily driver, but your truck is not a daily driver so they should have lasted a little longer.

Yeah, that was the reason I went agm last time. Supposed to be better with vibration and whatnot. Also less corrosion from off gassing. The agm were starting to act weird. They would start the truck but under a constant medium load like my fridge or diesel heater, they would drop to 11 volts within minutes. Out of warranty next month so I figured better ditch them now. The agm was also out of stock everywhere. Got the new ones under warranty and 50 bucks back.
These only have a 2 yr warranty though.

I haven't run a fridge long enough to really tell, but outside of that I've had better luck with wet cell. I'm only going off of Optima yellow tops vs. Super Starts or generic Autozone batteries. In Vegas 3 years was max for anything I tried.

Edit: That Super Start you put in the 77 for me is still kicking
