'84 K5 Build (Midlife Crisis)

Ok, skidplate went right back on. Stock bolts all the way up on the front. I could crank the rear bolts all the way up, but it might push the bottom of the tank up more than I would like. Going to make some 1" spacers for it. I don't want to throw off the sending unit.

Might not be a terrible idea to put some kind of support around that so if the skid does impact something the load is spread and it doesn't crush the tank from the center.

I have dreams of building/reinforcing a burly ass skidplate someday. Maybe when I get the cage done

I like the look of those but they look like a PITA if you get in the back of your vehicle a lot. Always having to drop it down to get in.

wouldn't be too bad with spring assist like Kert's. Swing up or down you have to move the tire to access the back.

I would like to do a swing out, only one pin to pull and just swing it out of the way. I haven't researched it a lot or found a good one I like yet. Plus does the flip down get in the way when flipped down? I guess both styles have there pros and cons.

The big pain the ass is obviously handling a larger tire, it's easier to roll it onto a drop down style like pictured above.

So... softopper update. Shipped from softopper in Colorado and was in vegas in 1.5 days. Awesome.
Then ups proceded to let it sit for three days before they delivered it. Sucks. Open it up and inventory all the parts and im missing four little bags of brackets and hardware. Really sucks. Called Softopper this morning as soon as they opened and told him what i was missing. He was VERY apologetic and said he would ship the stuff out priority right away. I was prepared to be irate and demand imediate shipping and stuff but that was definitly not gonna be neccesary. I am bummed out I dont have my softop on yet but their customer service was excellent. Very impressed. 15 min after I hung up with him I recieved a tracking number already. THAT is customer service. Thumbs up to Softopper.

What a weekend.... Got the softopper on (love it).
Drove out to the river about an hour and a half drive. Except it took two or three hours because this piece of shit ass big block kept overheating and we kept pulling over to let it cool down. Had a good time at the river but DAMN it was hot. Great food and good times though. Checked all the fluids again before we left and put about half a quart of water wad all it took. Made it about 10 miles down the dirt road and she just died. Little fuel pump was running but not pumping. Because I dont trust this thing I had alot of spare parts with me. Put on my spare pump and off we went again. For about ten more miles till it was in the red. Had to do that twice before I hit the down hill section then made it most of the way home. One more cooldown stop for a last
Run home.

I have run smallblocks my entire life and this P.O.S.
Gen v big block that came in this when I got it is coming out and my stroker small block is going in.
Besides the fact that it only makes 210 hp, I am tired of constantly ****ing with it trying to make it reliable. End Rant. Lol

Truck is looking great dude. Love the soft top.

Thanks Phil. I absolutely love my blazer and the new top. I have not driven it with it all buttoned down and closed up yet, but all rolled up like a safari top it's really nice. No flapping or annoying noises at all.

Soft top color is awesome, looking good man. Should have my blazer up in a couple weeks, then I'll tag along.

203 needs a bearing or replaced. Just haven't decided on what to do.
