'84 K5 Build (Midlife Crisis)

I have been having fuel delivery issues on this blazer since i've had it. It's a gen v big block so there's no mech fuel pump provision. The p.o. had a little Mr. Gasket geroter pump on the frame that works but I can run the carb dry if going up a long grade or getting on it. Carb float level is good. I want to upgrade the pump but I do plan on going to efi eventually. So this is my tenetive plan. I'm going to install a Beans sump in my tank. (I have one on my diesel duramax and I love it.) From there 8an to 100 micron filter to bosch 044 with output check valve on frame rail. Then 6an to 30 micron filter to holley 12-880 regulator to carb. That way when I go to efi all I have to do is swap out the included spring in the regulator and its good to go. What does thou think??

I'm not familiar with the Beans sump but it sounds like a solid plan. Not sure which EFI system you'll go with but most of them are internally regulated so you may not need the Holley regulator when you go EFI.

Good point on the regulator. I usually do megasquirt stuff for efi but im getting more lazy the older I get. I'm pretty sure i'll go with the fitech when the time comes.
Heres's a pic of the sump im talking about. Drop skid plate, cut hole and install, reinstall skidplate. Done.

that's pretty slick. I assume you use the current tank output through the sending unit as the return?

Exactly. My blazer actually has a return line already stock but i'm going to use the feed line because its bigger. That bosch 044 is going to be returning most of its fuel unused....

Yessir, I have two of those on my old boat. Good reliable pumps. I just want to set it up for efi now. The fitech probably wont be too far off.

that's pretty damn simple then :waytogo:

image.jpg image.jpg Lol. All O.G. I just pulled out the original 84 carpet and padding. Check it out...pretty cool I think. Im going to save all the original stuff including side panels for templates and reference.
