'84 K5 Build (Midlife Crisis)

I guess the lesson learned from this one is always check input shaft clearance with plistigauge or silly puddy depending on the clearances expected...even if everything goes together smoothly without it. I bet that thing did not give any resistance until the last couple of threads. If resistance happens 1/2 or 3/4 way in then it is easy to tell something is not right, but if it the last couple of threads then it is impossible.
Exactly. I test fit and checked everything when I first got it. Apparently I measured wrong. Just glad I caught it on my terms and not out in bfe.

Fubar in the area of the ice fire would suck lol. All the trips out there we've been lucky.

Thank you! I can’t believe how much better this shifts than the 465, even sitting on the floor. Throws are so much shorter and tighter. Plus it’ll be soooo nice having synchronized first and reverse!
Shhh! Don't let the non-believers know...

That Magnum looks killer on the back of the 4500.

The NV4500 bell housing doesn’t have any provisions for the old school strut rods. I guess GM either cheaped out or did they decide they weren’t necessary? Should I drill and tap these small bosses and build a plate to attach the rods or take them off??10B83B47-7C4E-4DDC-98C9-60E6AD86A2C6.jpeg1EDEA184-A417-4C7E-AB63-820EE891455E.jpegC5FADDCE-93F5-48D9-9F1F-02A9D87681D3.jpeg
