Got the bolt out.
Looked at a 72 LT-1 SBC and it’s at 5/8” dimension as well.If anyone has a 2pc. rear main sbc laying around, I would love to know the measurement from the back of the block to the back of the crankshaft surface where the flywheel mates. Mine measured 5/8”.
Thank you for that. I was pretty sure mine was good because it worked with 2 other transmissions. I’m leaning towards the new disc as being the issue. I think was either assembled wrong or not the correct application. Maybe mis boxed? I checked my thrust clearance when I had the flywheel off and it was .006, but yeah excessive play would of helped.Looked at a 72 LT-1 SBC and it’s at 5/8” dimension as well.
Also checked a few old 292 6cyl engines and they all are at 5/8”.
Only things that I can think of is either the T.O.B. collar was a bit too long, something is goofy with the first disc or ya’ could have major wear on your crankshaft thrust bearing ???
Edit: On second thought I guess the crankshaft play could not be to blame in this case because when the clutch is depressed it moves the other way which would give you more clearance and not cause your original problem.
Yeah that’s for sure. Got the front driveshaft and skidplate back in this morning. Going to take another drive here shortly.Hopefully you got it all figured out now. I'll bet you'll be glad to drive it again and put this behind you.
Thanks Rob, it is quite different feeling.Right on! Bet it feels like a whole new truck with that trans in it. Great work getting through the odd stuff too.
Fock Greta. Go have fun recycling dead dinosaurs into smiles as you drive it now.
That’s good to hear, thanksMagnaflow mufflers are where it’s at. They sound good, not droney or rasp.
You heard mine through the canyon at 7k rpmThat’s good to hear, thanks

I just ordered a couple of things from summit last week, one item came out of Reno, the other came out of Phoenix, and they both got here the next day.I love it when summit has my parts in the Nevada warehouse. I ordered that muffler yesterday and it was here today.
