'85 C30 now a K20 - Grandpa's Truck

I hear ya on that, i trust my uncles opinion, he was a mechanic and long time drag racer and has built many engines. he said that he personally has pulled the pan off to inspect the other guys work and said it looked good and that it is what the guy said it is. im 98% sure it was a complete rebuild but i will see if he knows if the heads were gone through, etc.. Ive never had a small block or a big block but i have a bit of seat time in an 82' f250 2wd, with a fresh 460 that has a cam, intake and headers on it and i know i like that grunt it has. you guys think id be happy with this 355? im not looking to beat this f250, just looking for opinions. my truck is by no means light and i dont know if this 355 would push it the way i want it too...

Thats a sick ride man, way cool it was your gpas.

If your gettin an engine I just dropped a 408 small block in mine, Ill let you know how it moves it in say, 3 days or so:thumb:

btw whereabouts are you in MI??

im over on the other side of the state, between flint and port huron but closer to flint. and thanks i appreciate the compliments. ill have to put up some recent pics, im not sure if i out one up with the tailgate on yet...

Cool man, I do like pics, and that paint looks really nice, I cant wait to do some body work eventually, it will prolly wait till next summer however.

And im sure that 355 would give you plenty of power, its not like your running massive tires on the thing, and I thought you said 410's in it so I would think your fine if its a trustworthy engine I say go for it:thumb:

If it was me,I would try to find a Banks turbo kit for the 6.2 and keep it a diesel. A turbo would make that thing a whole different animal.

Idk about with the turbo 400 behind it but the diesel would get better mileage, but I have no idea about if you dropped the turbo kit into it. I dont know much about diesels.

Id say go for it, if the guy can be trusted.

I think with the 355 it should be alot more fun to drive, The bigblocks inherintly have far more low end torque, but youve got pretty low gears with a stockish tire,. Id think you would give that 460 a run for its money with a strong 350.

And the mods for SBC's are almost endless too.

ya i think im gunna get the 355. its a good deal and like stated above the upgrades are endless and cheaper than a big block. i can guarantee that we will be seeing what truck is faster once the swap is done :thumb:. all i want is something more fun to drive and lay some rubber at some stop lights . Me and some buddies go to the local drag strip several times a summer and im sure ill be doin some burnouts so i was thinking about a line lock. they are relativly inexpensive and i can plumb one in no problem. the drums are massive on my 14 ff probably hard to work against and i think it would be sweet to press a button, lock the fronts, get'em turnin then press the button and roll out of it. any one have experience with a line lock? brand preference? and as promised ill get some recent pics up

first pic is me and my date salena to senior year homecoming.
next is my date kasey to senior prom.
3rd is one of my senior pictures. ill have to put the rest of my senior pics up they turned out awsome. i also have to get a picture of the tailgate..

Lmao, Adam that's really funny man. My uncle used to have a van just like yours, except it was a monster POS. If I ever see one around here, I might have to get my hands on one :waytogo:

Honestly they drive awesome. Coils in the front compared to the solid axle with leafs is like riding on a cushion, they just float, and it does 80 highway and it just cruises. I love it. Plus how much fun are they for camping, hauling toys, and all the other fun things you can do in a van:whistle::thumb:

Awesome pics man,I only wish my high-school rides were that nice. The truck is badass too lol. Seriously though you have an beautiful truck,I love it!
