85 Suburban. Back in the shop

hmmm,

What trans are you running now.

TURBO 350, SHIFT KIT, REBUILT WHEN I DID THE BUILD IN 2006. NOT A LOT OF MILES ON IT. I DO THINK IT IS LEAKING OUT THE FRONT SEAL BUT NOT A LOT. AND ONLY WHEN IT SITS. PUT A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER IN IT FOR THE BUILD ALSO.

MY TRANNY GUY DID BOTH THE TRANNY AND COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED THE 205 AND REPLACED ANYTHING THAT SHOWED ANY WEAR. WE USED THE ARTICLE ON TWIN STICKING FROM 4 WHEEL AND OFF ROAD MAG TO DO THE TWIN STICK. THE RAILS WERE GROUND USING SOME MACHINING EQUIPMENT HE HAS. IN ADDITION TO BEING A TRANNY GUY FOR OVER 25 YEARS HE ALSO BUILDS RIFLES FOR LONG DISTANCE ACCURACY SHOOTING. HE MACHINES HIS OWN BARRELS, SO I FIGURED I COULD TRUST HIM TO MACHINE THE RAILS.

TWIN STICK SHIFTER IS FOR A DANA 300 AND I HAVE THE BOOT FOR IT ALSO.

IT IS ALL STILL IN THE RIG. THE ADAPTER HAD A CRACK IN IT AND I HAD IT REPAIRED AND I ALSO HAVE A SPARE ADAPTER FOR BETWEEN THE 205 AND 350.

Well made some progress tonight. I forgot how much fun this is. It's been a few years since my last Blazer build.

Plans this weekend.

Add 52s, re route and install new brake likes, install frame repair for box, install x-over and 2wd box.

Got front end ripped down, got in a fight with old leaf springs and kicked the sheet out 4 of the old leaf spring brushings and cut the old front spring hangers off.

I'm a little sketchy bout the whole overload spring in or out scenario, but I'll mock it up and see how she looks.

Almost done with front end, all that's left with the front end is put brake lines on, bleed brakes, and get new shackles.

Curious to see how high it sits with these 52's. I tool some before measurements from ground to top of fender....but can't wait.

Well just got my shackles in finished the brake lines and able to start checking some clearance issues.....and come to find out, I DON'T HAVE 52 INCH SPRINGS. Daymn.

I have 56 inch springs

I feel like a dumb ass, I had these springs for years and could have swore I measured them a few months ago and they were 52s, but I must have got them confused with some other springs I had at the time.

So another delay, Ahh no worries.

I would think the 56s wouldn't be practical for a sometimes daily driver.........but how practical is a 1 ton Big Block suburban on 40's anyway. Ahh something to think about tonight.

Curious, is anyone running 56's on the front of a suburban.

I prefer 56" Less mods to run them they seem to ride and flex better as well, and they seem to be more stable

With the 56s, the front spring hanger needs to be moved more forward than where it needs to be with the 52s. (at least from what I measure)

So been looking into how to incorporate the front hangers with front bumper.
Also, measured up my winch and I have no idea how I'm going to fit it between the frame rails like I intended. its one burly biotch

Still need to add some strength to front frame.

I like how the DIY bumber center and hangers can be tied together but also like twisteds design.

The first time I used them I just swapped the holes with the stock brackets, my shackle angle was a little shallow and the shackle would hit the body mount on compression until I trimmed it . But it worked really good, had LOTS of droop.

The second time I did it I built my own front hangers and had a nice 45 degree shackle angle still had to trim the body mount though hahaha

The third time I used B52 brackets and shorter shackles no trimming of the body mount and the shackle angle was perfect.

the forth and most recent time I'm using and A-bomb and 4" lift 56" springs and a DIY FUSH kit looks like I'll have it perfected this time

Sorry for the poor pic quality I've since pulled all the stuff and will be putting it on my other burb lol :D

thats what im figuring out, the droop is crazy and body mount is in the way.

Did you end up keeping the overload on the spring pack?

No I ditched the overload , just make sure you bumpstop it so you don't reverse arch the spring

Good to know.

Well sounds like a plan. Then I should be able to back it out tomorrow for some pics of the front
