'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Just a brief video messing around in the back yard on some frozen dirt piles. Frostbite is next weekend so I had a couple of small things to check off the list before negative temps and snow this week.

The list of mechanical stuff is getting pretty low. Possibly looking at some cosmetic stuff this summer.

The original color is the blue that’s on the front fenders. I’m definitely going back to that blue, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how much work to actually put into bodywork versus doing a tintable bedliner from the body line down in the factory blue. I’m thinking the bedliner from the body line down would help hide a lot of wrinkles and help protect the body from future damage from smaller impacts. The original bedliner that was sprayed in was way too thin, and needs to be double or triple the thickness next time.

Frostbite was fun, but also a letdown. An hour into the trails my pump mods proved to be too aggressive and took out another pump. Took another hour to get off the trail with almost no steering, but it drove up on the trailer so not a complete failure.

The trails were crazy slick, so hill climbs and descents were pretty sketchy.

And this was loaded up to head home.

Too bad it broke. Downhill like that makes the butt pucker real good. Done it in loose dirt too.
I did it on the Rubicon coming down the granite slabs with ice and snow.
It was definitely butt puckering.
The smaller jeeps decided to winch down.
I just put it in gear and let idle down and at the bottom there was a sharp left turn, if you were too fast you slide off the cliff.
My wagoneer made it with inches to spare...

So your belief is that the pressure was too high?
Yes my mods from West Texas Offroad proved to be too much.
Perhaps you should go to an actual hydraulic pump if you continue to have issues.
This is the last used unit I have. After I got the pump back together, a buddy informed me he has a PSC pump if this last one doesn’t work out.
Something is going on with the setup to split two cases like that. It's split in the same place twice right? What are the pump mods that you've mentioned?
Yes they are identical splits. I didn’t follow the thread correctly and I think I did too many mods at once. I threw that fitting in the trash lol.
