'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Lots more videos to come, but first round of pics from yesterday at Tuttle Creek ORV.

Overall, no big failures. Beat And bounced on the truck all day and the drivetrain held up great. Not a single beat missed with the 8.1 and the steering.

Only carnage was a front differential cover and back glass. Diff got a hole ripped in it, but I still have a DIY cover that needs tossed on. Back glass broke when the gate opened up and spilt all my prizes out the back.

My glass was broken when the latches failed on me before I even went on a trail.
I put a plexiglass piece the whole 6 years I wheeled it.
Never had a problem

Was is body flexing that let the tail gate drop?

My Early Bronco would unlatch the stock spare tire carrier on twisty stuff. I had to cable it to the bumper.

No I think it was the hard bouncing that that jarred the not so great latches loose.
Are you using tie rod ends or hiems on your tierod? It looks like it rotated and took out your diff cover
Heims. I’m not 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure you’re right.
I was just at Tuttle 2 weeks ago!

Loaded up Friday night to head out with a good group of guys to Tuttle Creek near Manhattan KS.

Left Saturday around 8:00am and 4 of us met in town then drove the other 1.5hrs as a convoy.

I led the first half of the day so not a lot of pictures or videos me hitting many obstacles.

We were at an area called the ledges, and taking turns hitting big and small spots. I hit an area that I had made back in August, but caught a bad bounce and blew up the rear U-Joint on the rear driveshaft.

It took out 2 of the bolts and broke them flush in the rear yoke. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to u-bolts instead of straps, but at this point it’s time to just go to phase 2 of the 8.1/4L80E swap.

I finished the first half of the day in FWD, and hopped in the copilot spot of another rig for the afternoon.

The truck still drove up on the trailer itself, so even with a decent break, I’m still calling it a successful day. If needed, a ujoint and some elbow grease would have gotten me back on the trails.

Got back home around 7:30pm and parked the entire setup in my skeleton shop and daydreamed for the remainder of the evening.
