86 suburban

Stuffed the tires into the wheel wells on both sides without a peep from the fan. Took this out for a few hours of stop and go driving, and it never climbs over 210. It was also my first real test of the front driveshaft. The last picture is my shock maxed out. Looks like this thing is ready for Tuttle again.

Had a pretty good day wheeling. Ended a few hours earlier than anticipated due to a u-joint failure. All in all I’m happy with how this performed. The clocked up 208 is a game changer.

Went to go run some errands in this yesterday, and the clutch pedal was non existent. Fluid was leaking out of the clutch master cylinder at the firewall. I swapped the clutch master cylinder with a used one from my 87’ parts truck. I got everything bled and it seems to be working well. I’m hoping to take this to Tuttle this Saturday.

While running errands on Sunday I noticed a rear brake hanging up. I tore into it tonight and I was able to barely pry the caliper free. I decided to go get some reman calipers since I needed brake pads anyway.

This was the best trip out with the Suburban so far. It did great, but under full flex it pops the slip yoke apart when you have to get into the throttle. A temporary axle limiting strap (ratchet strap) kept it together for the day. I think I’m going to make one out of square tubing.

Love it!

You can buy a longer slip yoke fairly cheap, and weld the stub into your current shaft.

Well you use to be able to.

Thanks! It was a great trip. I added 2” to my current shaft thinking that would resolve my issue. It worked great on the last trip, but in this trip I got into a lot of max flex situations. A longer slip yoke would solve this problem (I hope).I will do some digging and see if I can come up with one

I guess I was wrong about never doing any paint work on this. Since I busted out both of my backseat windows last weekend wheeling; I decided to throw some white tractor paint on these doors I had laying around.
