87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

my buddy in high school had a sick 67 Belvedere... 440, one of the torqueyest ($8 made up word of the day!) hotrods I've ever been in... a real monster...

318's don't need much help to get some power... they love aftermarket parts, 4 barrel, cam and headers did wonders for em.... throw a set of W2's on em and they can eat BB's.. spin like mofo's! factory shaft rockers, nice.... :wink1:

thats torquiest i think:haha:

actually, i don't think that makes the same sound.

i'm an idiot

forgot to mention something I found out recently that may be of interest to anyone that digs the Contura switches I run and is looking for a source...

it has come to my attention that Contura switches are now also being repackaged under some marine brands now, Sierra, Seadog, Blues Seas...... they've had em out for a year or so now.... exact same switch.. they even have them listed in all the catalog's as Contura's.. so marine sources are even better for these switches now... West Marines, mom & pop's, etc....

here's go2marines page with SeaDog's, etc.... http://www.go2marine.com/category.do?no=13154&view=item

and a google shopping for Sierra's..... http://www.google.com/products?q=si...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CBcQrQQwAg

sweet fancy moses...... :wink1: the conduit I wanna run is friggin $231 for 50' !!!!! :eek1:

I have the fittings already.....

I'm running the same style thruout the truck that I used on my electronics box

and this is the conduit I want to run between connectors for the smaller wires...

sad thing is, I'll end up getting it..... :doah::haha:

ordered my panel latches for use thruout the truck today.. decided to play it safe and ordered 6 of the black on black ones....

as opposed to something with a satin in it.....

i figure, if anything, the black'll stay cleaner longer.... :haha: 2 for the electronics box, 1 for the breaker/glove door, 1 for the console door and 2 for a couple future secret projects i have planned...:wink1:

Why the expensive conduit? What about it makes it so expensive? I am sure that if you are using it that it is pretty bad arse stuff.

The simple answer is, it's what I want.... :wink1:

I've used it in the boats and it's bulletproof... it ain't no cheapie splitloom....

combined with those ends, it's a waterproof connection... flame retardent, flexible, etc... Throw in it's gonna look sick and I'm sold...

wish you could get a 25' roll, but at least I'll have plenty for running a chase for the back winch and any other project I can think of...

Cool. Where does one find this bullet prof conduit? Might have to use some of that when it comes time for wiring.

the brand is Liquatite... I've been shopping their stuff over at Grainger... just seemed to be the biggest, hassle-free vendor i noticed... here's the page with the 1" I want.. they have other sizes and styles too, including steelbraided... I'll have enough of that in hose for the bling factor so I'm doing the wiring stuff in black...

basically all my "in cab" electric will be fed by 2 of those going thru the firewall, next to my heater bulkhead... this one...

for anyone wanting to waste 5 minutes of their life, a slideshow of my build.. :haha:

came out decent enough, considering I couldn't see what pics i was putting in! :doah::( down the road, I'll redo it with some of the other projects in the truck, breaker panel, e-box, etc, put it in order and get out some of the crappier , redundant pics..

maybe if the dog sled shows up this week with my NWF order I'll get motivated to bang out some schtuff...

Looking good. Damn NWF have you heard what the hell is taking them so long?

Also my local paint supplier says he doesn't have a zinc based primer in aerosol cans so he was trying to push the self etching stuff. Question is will the self etch stuff work ok for small parts and stuff? As it is easier than having to break out and clean a gun.

nah, i tried to call a couple times last week but couldn't get Kyle... I will get ahold of him this week.. it's pretty rediculous... if i KNOW their gonna show at some point, meaning a tracking number, I'm ok with it.. i'm just getting concerned that they may be MIA... still POed about that brokerage fee... thats bs, I paid for shipping when I ordered...

anyway.... yeah, the body supply houses have gotten away from zinc chromate, the marine biz is about all thats left for the good stuff... i don't know how good the rattlecan self-etchers are, i'm sure is better than some standard Krylon primer in a can... the 2 part self etching primers are better yet, but yup, huge nuisance loading a gun...

I'd say either give his self etching rattlecan a try, or source some zinc chromate online.. zim, greg and a few others have been buying it online i believe, at about $10, 12 a can... for smaller parts, I'm sure the stuff the body supply has would be fine tho...

soooooooo, talked to Kyle this morn and got a tracking #.... apparently the other package was returned, and he remailed it like thurs.... checked UPS, the friggin thing was still in British Columbia as of this morn...

unfreakinbelievable....

according to brown Santa, it'll be here monday.....

I just don't get that... how packages can take 6 weeks or more to deliver from the time they are shipped..... sheesh, I could have had a fiberglass body truckfreighted from across the country in a couple weeks...

So far I'm impressed with the product, but like Scott said, never again... I just hope everything's right with this part of the order...
