should be squirtin black sat or sun..... :woot: I thought the house stunk today, thats gonna be real stanky! :doah: :haha:

thanks mucho Eric.... I'm pretty stoked... come monday it should be a whole different rig...

only thing i'm concerned about is running out of black..... I've got a qrt of black Imron I'm gonna squirt first with a regular gravity feed to help get coverage... then I have about a gallon and a 1/2 of the satin to run thru the pressure pot... the pot is the way to go, but it will blow thru paint if your not careful... worst case, I leave it masked, and pick up more monday...

but it is a lot of surface, whole frame, undercarriage, whole inside and all the fiberglass parts..... plus the inside of the doors if i have enough..

but it should be a big turning point... I can start final assembly of the interior... gotta get a new windshield soon.. but january should be taken up with putting the 60 together, and getting the whole front clip mocked in and painted hopefully... think that 4" cowl's gonna be pretty sick on the rig....

thanks guys!

for as decent as it looks now, once the black is on, I really think it's gonna make the copper look way better... break things up a bit....

hopefully masking the cage and copper off wont be too much of a pain.. i'll be going thu a few rolls of 2"...... :haha:

as to dust..... the roof has a bit, but not bad considering I was 8" from the ceiling beam, in the dungeon...... nothing a little 1000 grit and wheel wont take care of..

the better you prep, the less dust first... I also have LOTS of tricks developed over 30 yrs..

I usually progressively blow out the truck, surrounding area, and shop, more and more the last couple days leading up to a shoot... but I wont do any the day I shoot... this was a "leave everything alone thats away from the truck and just tarp it" kinda spray... in the past when the dungeon wasn't so cluttered, i'd clean the whole garage in prior days, set up plastic for a mock booth, then wet the floor... but it would have taken me 2 days alone to "clean out" the garage......

I nuke the he!! out of the garage the prior evening till morn. then shut the heat down for a couple hrs prior to let the air settle.. THAT's where dust will come from, if the vehicle itself is perfect..

perfect surface, damp/dry toweled with denatured before masking, then again after masking, then tacked right prior to the first coat..

hvlp helps a TON with dust... your "moving around" much more air with an oldschool non-hvlp... not to mention wasting a bit of material in the way of more airborne overspray.. also, with base/clear, you only have to worry about dust during clearing... you tack your final basecoat..

but when i shoot the black, it'll be oldschool non-hvlp thru the pot... not concerned about dust on that one, it wont be a hood, roof or trunk, which are really your only worries for dust really...

btw, when i painted today, I was sweating my butt off in shorts and a t-shirt... that's how warm I get the dungeon on the overnight... :haha:

wow, a novel! :haha:

gotta finish the underside seamsealing tomorrow, do a little more wet 320-ing, then prep and mask.. probably wont mask it till sat.. give that clear some time to kick hard before i slam masking tape all over it.... :eek1: :haha:

Paul it is looking great, I cann't wait to see it with the black. Must feel like a big step forward at this point.

Hey Paul, when I get the body ready for paint I will just have you come spray it. That looks really good and I can't wait to see the black on it. And yes I am following your ideas for dust control so I can shoot mine in the garage in the spring.

Wait what is that. . . . . . . . . . . . .I see there in the distance. . . . . . . . . . . .is that a light at the end of the tunnel:waytogo:

dude, you know the drill, pm me at anytime and I'll give you a VERY detailed rundown on ANY bodywork stuff, from metalwork to paint prep... :deal:

and big thanks to all for the inspiring comments! I can see some long hours the next couple days, but I'm amped to do what it takes to get the black done... ya know, picture in my brain thing...

gotta say, I'm pretty damn pleased with how the wheelwell sectioning came out... keeping the bodyline, lip, etc ended up coming out just like I hoped... :woot:

assembly time just smacked me in the back of the head when I thought, 'well, as soon as I shoot black, I can put my door weatherstripping in...." ummmmm, damn, where'd I put that! :dunno: :haha:

After the black might be a good time to clean the place, help you find all those missing parts. :D

your a psychic right? :haha: I came to that conclusion last night after i made that post.... next weekend, tho I may piddle around on the interior and such a little, I need to do a major cleanout reorganize... :deal:

get ready for the next barrage... getting the front clip, Avery's tailgate, rad support, etc ready for the next paint douche.... tho all I can think about is the fact I'll be able to just pull sheet plastic over the rig, and paint parts in the next bay... awesome... :woot:

I've got a room full of parts, an attic, and the dungeon.. funny thing is i actually have 2 sets of them around... :doah: I've been looking for, well alright, trying to keep my out for this stupid L bracket that goes above the column, for months... i know it's here, just not sure what coffee can it's in! :doah: :haha:
