87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

I ride my bike down there when it's warmer... I'm 5 blocks from the bay beach... little bike path/boardwalk thingy....

I've been ON the beach sand, swimming, twice since I moved here 18 yr's ago... :haha:

wow...fear of water or sharks? :D

eh, just doesn't thrill me.. I'd rather go to a skatepark...

oh, the latest LAB implement of destructure....

110 angle Blue Point..

alright, gotta go be productive.. and itchy.... :doah: :haha:

I don't like going into the water anymore...but there is nothing better in the world than waking up in the morning and looking out over the water with a cup of coffee in my hand.
I get to experience this every now and then when I go to the beach and rent a condo on the waterfront.
That's my seemingly unattainable goal...to have a place beachfront on the gulf where I can wake up and see it, walk up and down it, and fulfil my photography hobby by taking sunset photos.

I don't know how to make that happen...there is no industry but tourism where I want to go...no jobs for IT guys...at least not yet. No small communities looking for a Police Chief with a 74 Blazer....

think about it.. I work at a marina... there are many a day I'm barefoot in the summer.. well, fairly often anyway.. washing a boat, wetsanding, oogling bikini's...... I go on boat rides... OFTEN...

AND... I'm not even into boating! :haha: it's why i really don't drive em, other than small stuff... I'll leave my thrills for street light to street light rompin... :saweet:

I've gone 100 in a boat. just not into it..

anyway....

an actual K5 update.. albeit small... the hood is back on for some final templating... forgot to buy oaktag today dammit... oh well, cerial box!!

fit's all around the front, just a gappy spot in the back.. gotta build little glass wall angles too... here's how it's fitting right now...

i'll make templates tonight, take the hood back off, glass, shape, reinstall, yada, yada... if I can get the underside in primer this weekend, I'll be very happy....

than I've got a bit of bodywork/priming down the ds, and I could get the whole exterior painted....

parts are a long road at this point after pilfering for Mutt... need a new steering box, hi-steer, suspension, blah... but the first thing I am gonna buy is a windshield to install!!!!!!! I'm tired of the interior dust....

and when I do Mutt's tube order at the end of the month, I'll have the stick for the back bumper/tire stinger... hmmm, nother project I need to get to ASAP, stripping Avery's pickup gate and get it in primer/trimmed and mounted... :doah: :screwy::grind::saweet: :haha:

if I wasn't so lazy, it would make a good name for a website...

fock... add another tool to the Sandy count.. my inline sander (longboard)just shat the bed after 10 minutes... :angry1:

I had pickled it as best I could, and it worked for a bit.. but now it's fubar'd... great...

Yeah your so lazy Mr posting at 6:15 N.J. time on a Sunday. Or where you up to get to early mass, so you could get back to the lab at a decent hour. ( I know you've said before you don't sleep much).

Btw sorry about the longbed, I was wondering on the long term effect of the storm on your tools. Insurance or trade for new, or a bite to the wallet. Also the LAB is looking good.

Can't wait to see some fabrication going down. You've lead us on with the tube bed teasers. Now my mouth is beginning to water. Thinking of some such non tube thing for myself (flatbed, with tool boxes). Or may just find a good utility bed and put it on.

Have you used your sprayguns since the storm or were they high and dry?

guns where fine.. it was my bottom drawer.. $500 snappie DVM, power probe 3, mac cordless 4.5 grinder (hoping i saved this, we'll see), 1/2 and 3/8 snappie air impact, the long board, couple drop lights, dremel tool, engraver, some older junk sanders..

and thanks, Ryoken's Lab™ ;) has really motivated me... the lighting makes it awesome...

last structural glass work..

so...

this black outline is where the expanded steel grill is going to mount.. to the flats on either side... that's right at the front of the cowl vent panel...

than in red, you can see where I'll do the flapper door down the road...

here's that expanded I had gotten for the grill, and the round rod for the frame...

you got a table saw that will cut that grate?

i'll just use a cutoff wheel and nip each one.. when i did the beefier expanded on the front grill, i just used my circ saw with a carbide.. I don't own a table saw...

wow...video sure adds some dimensions that you just don't get from posts and pictures....I forsee the forum going all video at some point...driveway builds will never be the same.

I didn't realize my camera took long video, not sure when it would have stopped.. i thought it only did 30 seconds... I'll have to start taking more when applicable..

the green belts look great too, Nice touch.

eh, that was dumb luck... :haha: gotta get a break every now and then.. :pimp:

here's a better one..

it's not nearly as noisy as that vid sounded, the carriage gear isn't hooked and was rattling in that one.. here's one with it removed at normal running volume... and Ryoken commentary.... :haha:

this is also with the back gear engaged and just about the slowest speed it'll turn, than the threading gears engaged..

RIVETING:D

I gotta get me something like that. So many little things that I could improve or change or make if I had access right there to a small lathe

:haha:

yup, can't wait to actually use it... :woot:

cutting thread is the operation that I'm leary of, that seems like it'll be one of the hardest to learn/get right.. and ya need different gears for that threading gearset for all the different threads, so I guess I'll be shopping various tooth counts with them.. seen em, just haven't researched it..

but even if I can just chuck stuff up to remove a few thousands, or surface a face.. or even just polish something up, I'll start with that... I can get fancier the more I do it..

well, I was sooooo utterly annoyed at needing to buy yet ANOTHER tool, when my Sandy list is already a yr's worth of toys, I just went down and completely tore my longboard apart and rebuilt it... :haha: I think I saved it, I'll know in the morn when I can run air thru it...

things simple, not much to it...
