on a little sidenote, personal blog type story, I kinda feel like typing this out...

consider it some insight into my little world if you'd like to read...
speaking of work buying me a welder... some interesting things have been going on at the marina over the last few months...
a couple weeks ago, my department head/ service manager who had been at the place 20 yrs, and ruled the yard, went in partners on and bought a marina.. so he's gone...
that moved my head mechanic up into department head, and me to head mechanic... I guess I can take some pride in the fact that I was moved to that position over any of the other mechanics, who have all been there years longer than me... by them....

thats all that matters, is my shop, my guys, my crew...
management was all for it... Tho I certainly know how to "play" the suit/tie/office jockey/corporate/paperwork nightmare game, and they love me, heck they gave me a car, I'm the grunt that fights them and that way of existing.. brainstorms that some midmanagement paperpusher in another state has come up with to justify his non-billable salary rarely play out well or are effective in my real work world imo.....
The paperwork is stupid and excessive 75% of the time.. thank god I finally got a computer for the mechanic shop, so I can go to their horrible software Syteline to find out my own info on work orders, alter them, etc, on my own without having to wait for the service managers to actually DO THEIR JOB!

anyway, one interesting development that has come up the last week or so that has me giddy with anticipation is they want me to develop us a machine shop for me to run in addition to my mechanic/glass duties..
obviously that will cut into my wrench turning, and thats fine, I bleed plenty as it is... I'm VERY excited at the prospect of custom part making.. They're talking about getting me a lathe, bridgeport, etc in addition to my recent welding acquisitions...
I'm quitely very stoked on the possiblities...
