87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

thank ya my fellow skate rat... :wink1:

one thing I realized while finishing that up is that I'm really glad I'm showing restraint in getting everything in fill primer and color... the more I mock up prior, the better...

the ONLY thing left to weld to the cage at this point is a couple welded nuts for the LCD panel... I'll get that done tomorrow... the other projects for tomorrow are to plod ahead and get the ds fender sectioning closer to completion, and the qrter sectioning, so I can finish off the ds slider......

once thats done (been putting that one off, tho quicker, I hate repeating what I've already done) I can go ahead and get primer and paint on the cab and cage...

right now I'm doing final clean up and layout of my 205 parts.. gonna start putting that together over the next couple nights... on the coffee table, watching TV! :haha:

multi tasking....awesome:D

Hey ryoken, just throwing this out there, you could use an ipad for your touch screen idea. Those things do just about everything and aren't as expensive as what you said earlier.

yeah, I've seen a few installs of them over at the MP3car forums... definitely a good thought...... thanks!

right now it's all on the backburner, mainly due to finances... I got the LCD panel final mounted in there now, so it CAN wait a bit... so even tho the x-mas kid in me wants that fancy toy in there, I'll keep shopping/researching..

right now I'm concentrating on things to actually get the truck on the road, funds permitting.... just finishing up the 205 rebuild tonight (pics to follow), wanna get that in for final mockup of the shifters, etc this weekend if possible... then I can start fabbing the x-member/bellypan, yada, yada....

hey i've read through your whole build, and just wanted to say its awesome and that you have major skills. keep it up!

:haha::haha::haha:

wont fit right anyway..... I actually had a brief conversation today with a marine electronics specialist acquaintance of mine today about this... he's gonna check into a few of his connections for me....

what a great day today...... :D update later tonight... :deal:

so it was a pretty good day...

non-build, boring life stuff first.... :wink1: so, some may remember a thread I did about a pair of 502 installs in a big sneaker-looking Silveron awhile back... well we finally sea-trialed it today and the motors ran awesome.. spun 4900 for a couple hrs, no leaks, no drips, no sags as I like to say.... that made my day... :saweet:

did tweak the he!! out of my knee today jumping off a boat tho, that kinda sucked... 8lb bag of ice on it now.... no big thang.... :o

on to some build related stuff... probably wont see my speedo gear till sometime next week, so I have to hold off on the mockup work... not too upset about it, as I wont have much time this weekend anyway with OT and family fun...

but I did come up with something today that may save some money and effort for me.... been getting to the point I really need to come up with a final secondary color to paint the drivetrain, cage, etc...

I'm thinking of going with this red/orange that I put on Kert's shackle, old lava-orange dif cover for comparison...

obviously I'll reshoot the cover.... it matches the seats nice, and I think it'll be a good contrast to the copper... black should look good with it too...

I do too.... not quite as glossy/tough as an Imron would be, but I like the tone...

btw, it's rattlecan engine enamel.. yup, even I look for step savers here and there.... :wink1: with zinc and urethane primer under it, it'll still be a good system.... way cheaper than Imron and a million times easier to shoot the cage, touch-up, etc....

I don't know, I like the look of the red. But, when you combine the two it just doesn't do it for me. It will look good, and it is your truck, but I think there has to be another color that would look better with the orange.

I'll take some better shots tonight of it on the transfer case, that pic kinda makes it look redder than it really is.... it definitely looks as much orange as it does red... it's the seats that are f*cking me up.... otherwise I would have gone with a standard chevy orange, this is listed as Chevy red orange... I think it'll be a good offset to the copper, I may blast some on a cage bar tonight to see how it looks with the copper...

contrasting color, how about silver? something metallic that goes with copper. just an idea. I got the idea from your sig pic. :D The first pic of the rear of the truck with the cage bare metal

this isn't just something that contrasts the copper... it's the color of my motor, t-case, cage (has to match the seat inserts within reason), razorbacks, hi-steer arms and x-over.. a ton of black, copper sheetmetal and this color....

put a coat on part of the cage.. I dig it, I'm definitely using it... gonna look good with all the black interior panels, etc... plus a large amount of the cage will have black padding on it....

thanks boys.....

I know it may look like a little bit of an unusual color combo, but i think once the truck is done, with padding, and this color is seen more sporadically at the joints, offset by the satin panels/cab, a few key components underneath, i think it'll work very well...

next up for the cab/body is to pick up fill primer and satin black so i can get the floor/ceiling/panels, etc in prime, shoot the cage, then do the black... in that wait, I'll get the t-case/shifter mockup done... tues i get my speedo gear.... actually the drivetrain in this color is what I'm really stoked on...
