87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

Dust ain't so bad as long as you post the pics of the merry maids with the feather dusters in the french outfits during the clean up.:eek1::D

Looking awesome as always

Damn thats some bad ass looking contrast.

thanks guys... :D

I'm very pleased with how the whole interior concept came together, component, and color scheme wise... for as drastic and circus-y as it is, I think it looks good, and as tasteful as you can be with an orange rollcage... :haha:

I really, really missed working on it.. not sure how much Mutt is gonna suck up time/labor-wise over the next 6 months, but I'm not gonna ignore the K5 and will try to still throw some labor at it...

What dash pad clips are you looking for? I have my whole dash pad on the side of the house that's headed for the trash, if it's a part that's on there I'll send them to ya'. Or is it the part on the dash itself?

it's the 5 clips that clip onto the bottom of the dashpad, that slide into the slots near the windshield... I think Jimmy is sending me a set..

just to mention it.... I actually still need 2 more sections of the cage padding... to put the correct size piece in the handle area (those are just leftover scraps), than possibly from the handles to the dash.. but I figured it best to wait till the dashpad is sized/shaped...

I'm also in the process of getting the smoked lexan glovebox door and lower kick panel fab worked out... got some strip steel to redo the hinge area this weekend and have the lexan ordered for Monday...

I already had the quick release latches like my console compartment door has for the lexan and lower kickpanel... the lexan door will be hinged with the same marine hinges I used in the console, with the detents so it stay open at a level height, no strap... maybe I'll do some mock-up/refresher pics this weekend..

the kick panel is the same black composite as the rest of the interior... don't want any steeltoed's bustin up the Megasquirt! :haha:

Jimmy, by far the leading donator of "Ryoken needs/lost stupid stuff" for his K5....

send me that paypal addy :deal:

cool, I can work on the dash pad next weekend... :woot:

on that note, if they're reading, Teck your package went out yesterday... as did Uthergorge's too...

oh, and here's some various images of the edge-lit tech I'm gonna use on the dash...

it'll replace the silver bezel to the right, 3" x 30".. amber all the way across the top, than green at the bottom, for the 2 different themes.. and those will be hidden obviously by the dash edge around it, so you'll just see lexan and lettering...

I'm shopping Eghey for a new Dremel 3000 or 4000 these days to replace my old one... it was in the bottom Snappy drawer during Sandy... :doah:

Pimp my Ride eat your heart out.... :haha:

tho, I don't remember them doing anything etched.. not that I watched much of it...

f*ck it, I've never seen it in a car before, should look pretty freaky....

now, the actual hardest part, picking a font!!!! :doah:

They did an etched panel in one vehicle.
It was in a rear cutout.
May have been in the same episode as the fish tank.

I've seen it in subwoofer boxes before, but not in a car/truck.

When I installed windows full time, our company would etch our logo in the corner of the sash it was very small like the dot stuff on auto glass. They used an acid etching process. Are you planning on sand blast etching instead?
If so why lexan over plexiglass? Just interested, as I have a lot of big pieces of hurricane proof 3/16 plexi and a blast cabinet and now I have some ideas.

my old gaming rig... :pimp: :woot: :pimp: :haha:

I've always used plexi in the past... I just seem to remember hearing that lexan is a better acrylic than the plexi.. iirc, the pricing reflects that too... a bit priceier...

the glove door, 24" x 12" x 1/4" was $18... and a 3" x 48" x 1/4" for this was like 18 too...

workability? I don't know, I'll see if I notice a difference...

I was torn on blasting vs engraving.. blasting is BY FAR THE EASIER route... I can actually get my boat name bud to do a stencil that I can stick to it.. blast.. easy peezy... and I will probably make one in the new homemade blast cabinet...

BUT I DO want to try engraving one... I'm pretty sure that's how you drastically change how bright certain areas look... you can see it in some of the computer cut stuff.. i'm not even really certain what biz I could contact about doing it, and also the specifics of the engraving, angles, depth, yada.. and that ALL probably affects how it looks.. :doah:

but I wanna try my hand at it with various bits/techniques.. a bit of fence guiding with the right font, some free-hand carving, and a voodoo dance might reveal something not childlike... :haha:
