Having trouble get heat to blow hot. Put a new heater core in when I got it going and I’ve never been able to get hot heat. Hoses going in and out of heater core are too hot to hold on to. Also has a new 190 degree thermostat. I’m about to take it to a shop but really don’t want to. Also the engine never warms up more than this. HELP

I would question if your temperature gauge is functioning properly. If the heater hoses are too hot to hold, then it should be at least 150F. The mark between 100 and 210 should be 155. I'm also suspicious about the gauge since I'm sure your oil pressure isn't really pegged high off the scale.

Is this an AC equipped truck? I'm completely talking off the top of my head but I was thinking vehicles with AC have some sort of vacuum operated door that opens to allow the hot air to blow out. The "blend door" maybe.

Only other thing I can think of is heater hose not plumbed correctly, but if they're hot you should be getting hot air.

Ever since I installed a speaker in the corners my oil pressure gauge has been quirky. Only time I’ve seen the temp gauge get much higher is when I took the rad fan off to see if it just wasn’t getting warm enough. Then the gauge went past 210, but no difference.

The truck is a Custom Deluxe so no A/C originally but someone installed aftermarket A/C. When I got the truck, I ripped out all the aftermarket crap and put a non A/C heater box on. But didn’t change anything else. Not sure if that’s where my problem lies. The only control that works on the bezel is the hot/cold but I’m wondering if it’s working 100%.

I think there were some vacuum hoses on the back of the bezel. I figured if I put a new heater core and blower in and just set it to hot and defrost/floor I would be good and wouldn’t have to mess with it.

The vacuum stuff usually is for the ac heater boxes. A regular non AC one should just be the cables I think.

I remember when I cleaned it all out (from the mice shit) a lot of the foam insulation came with it. Think that could be an issue?
