88 Crew Cab Dually 2wd to 4wd Build

I do plan on leaving them. I figure if the pros at ORD make them this way, I should be good..
roger that. i think i was picture the diy setup, but even that is only a single plate coming off i believe, just has a wider outside piece.

Nope I have diy4x's and it's essentially a boxed piece. Not just a single plate with gussets.

right. i have one as well. its a single flat coming off the frame which is where the logo is cut in, and than a wide flat piece "boxing' it on the outside

its not technically boxed since the piece with the logo is in the center and is more framed than boxed. not that it really makes the slightest difference at this point. lol. i'm pretty sure WFO does it the same way as this build as well so i doubt his will fail.

Just curious, but if you have a set of ORD shackle flip brackets that you copied, why not just use them? Or did you borrow those?

The space between spring and frame is 2" on all 1/2 and 3/4ton and the ORD brackets. 1tons are only 1.25, well My dually is, not sure on others.
So the angle of the bracket off the frame is different. Ill get a side by side shot to really show the angle difference

Ah, that makes perfect sense then. Using them as more of a guide then exactly copying them.

Are you going to put gussets on the bottom/back side like the ORD ones?

Ended up chopping up a hitch I had laying around. Seems to fit in pretty good after switching things around. What you guys think? good idea or bad.

Then started looking at a sway bar. Seems the original may work if I can figure out what to do with the ends. I think I can heat and bend them to shape. Couple brackets and hiems at the end?? Ideas?

Didnt think you could run stock swaybar with the 52s? Maybe a track bar and keep the overloads or add a spring or two.
