Tire Carrier Project
I'm no fabricator, so I was biting off quite a bit when I decided to add onto my DIY4X rear bumper. Goal, get the tire off the roof and have a functional swing gate tire carrier.
Parts List
I'm really happy with the outcome. I also took the opportunity to mount LED floods in the bumper while I had it off and in disarray, prior to re-powder coating. I also had to box in the rear bumper as it had quite a bit of flex in the bumper when I mocked up the whole thing with tire and High Lift Jack mounted.

- Competition 4x4 Heavy Duty Tire Carrier Hinge Kit; 1.75 spindle shaft (DIY00121)
- Competition 4x4 Aluminum Cap Nut (Fab-Cap-020)
- De-Sta-Co Double Locking Horizontal Clamp Latch #341R
- 2" x 3/16 Square Tube
- Misc scrap 3/16 steel plate, flat stock and angle iron for brackets, stops, gussets, etc...
- CB Mounting hardware from a truck stop and a new FireStick antennae (36")

Thank you for the compliment. Sorry for the delay. Total cost was about $350 with blasting & powder coat.
Bad blazer man!! One of the cleanest! So when we going are not far from me, maybe 1 hour.
Sorry for the delay in response!!! All together, it was about $400, including powder coat. My time, it took me a while, but i don't bill myself for that. LOL!
I wish I could get out some soon. Kids are in marching band season now and I'm making a trailer for them, so all time there. What's the best way to get locals together, do you have a group of K5s to go with. Mostly jeeps and a bronco in my group of friends.
Oh we're all chebbys no Jeep's or bronhos..

Hey there... I've been off-line for a while regarding this build. I'll work on an update. I made a switch box and wiring system, added a truck tailgate and just put in a roll cage. Building 1-ton's right now...
