'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
Is this print or 3d?
It's printed. The 3D effect is pretty good tho. Actually made sticking them harder because I thought some of the air bubbles were just the print. I ended up with a wrinkle because I didn't realize it was a bubble. You can get rid of the bubbles pretty easy if you don't get aggressive, but since I didn't know it was a bubble I pushed on it too hard.

They are actually screen captures off the GPS app on my phone that I colorized in a sepia tone like what you do to mimic old photos. It frequently amazes me how high the resolution is on these new phones.

Totally where I got that. I always liked that look so much but had to go do something other that orange.

@miniwally is referring to a wrap we did for their KOH car.

That one was a high resolution image of Johnson Valley overlayed on orange.

Also got the filler neck all buttoned up. The door I got works with the factory neck I had the crew cab. It bolts to a plastic cup at the same angle as the factory fuel door.

It comes with a rubber grommet but I ended up not using it even tho it's in the pictures above.

The plastic cup I bolted to the panel. It's supposed to snap in but that didn't work. I had the dimensions when I created the cut file and I assumed the 4 rectangle snap tabs would each be 90° apart, but they weren't. So I had to bolt it in. Then the door bolts to the cup.

I had to register the filler as far up as possible to keep a good angle. I added a couple more screws because one of the factory holes missed the flange.

I'm happy with that fuel door purchase. It was about $40 and worked perfectly with the factory neck. I was having a hard time finding an aftermarket filler neck that would match the 1-3/4" hose. Most necks were for 1-1/2".

The filler hose is a combination of things. The rubber elbow is from the original saddle tank. Then I used a 1-3/4 exhaust 90 from the local parts store. The last bit of hose I bought at the start of the project; it was a 3ft piece and I only needed 14 inches.

The length of angle iron the filler hose is resting on almost needed up the slope.

This came out really nice. It’s all very proportional, and maintains the signature crewcab look with a load of new function.

I look forward to seeing it in person.

Got it on the road today for a car show the 4x4 club was helping with to raise money for the Knights of Comlumbus. We hold our meetings at the KoC hall and during covid restrictions they lost all their revenue streams to maintain the building. The car show was to help offset some that. It was a good motivation to get the truck road worthy.

We also mounted the spare tire and lower part of the bumper.

Holy cow gas has gotten expensive and here I am running a 40 gallon tank. I called uncle at 20 gallons. At least I know the filler neck works.
